They've cut a scary amount of frame away to get the turbo and carb in!

Naaah, yer alright.
That frame cutout worries me and to my eyes Slabbies are the hunchbacked inbred of the Suzuki lineup.
No doubt they shook the bike industry up in 85 when they came out but I have hidden shallows and just can't see past the looks.
Massive long swingarm and a frame that someone has attacked with a plumbers holesaw aren't helping it for me.
Its tidy enough but just doesn't tick any of my boxes.

The frame cut is scary, I do like early GSXRs though

Was whoever cut and "welded" the frame partially sighted?asmethurst99 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 5:31 pm I was gonna to,say I liked it.I then blew up the first pic and saw the non standard curve in the frame .

Other people's thought processes baffle me sometimes
"I'm adding bits to make this engine more powerful, but I can't fit them in the bike. I know: I'll cut a big chunk of the main structure out!"

Then weld it up without a long enough postpurge on the sheilding gas so theres masses of porosity at the weld stop.
Or at least I think that was the direction of travel.
Could also have been they didn't purge the aluminium tubes, still porosity though.
To be fair to em, with a cutout like that, the substandard welding isnt really the biggest issue.

The ad says it's been strengthened but all the same ....
Re: Suzuki GSXR 1216 Mr Turbo 1986 slabside custom show street track drag bike
Scary!!!
Solve the engineering problem of carb location, nah fuck it - we'll just cut a chunk out of the frame.
200mph on that = big balls or a level of stupidity, I suspect the latter.
I'm out.
