You think that Boris occupies the centre ground? I'd say he's about as far extreme right as you can go without goose-stepping into Parliament. Most of what Corbyn proposed is vewed as standard Social Democrat fare in most of Europe, particularly the Nordic states. It's a measure of how far the Tories have moved the political landscape to the right that Boris could ever be viewed as centrist.

Any administration that tries to criminalise popular protest is along way from the centre.
So says The Guardian

The fact is that Johnson said what he would do, the electorate voted for him, and by and large he's so far done what he said he would do. And furthermore has overseen a successful Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

Oh, I don't know.

Fucked up on the track and trace and refused to stop people travelling when the one sure way to spread Covid-19 was to have people travelling.

Yeah, really successful.

What he did, in an extraordinary bit of luck, was hand the vaccination campaign over to someone who actually knew what they were doing.

The test and trace system, although clunky at the beginning, evolved quickly into a very slick system.

The problem with it lied with the people on the other end of the phone, ignoring calls, telling the operators to fuck off and generally not complying.

That doesn’t sound very slick to me.

You seem to have an ongoing problem with this board. Why?

Most of us are grownups and can argue our position and see the other side's. Political discourse is always a bit mingmong, watch PMQ on Wednesdays.

You need to get over it or can the board.

...and your mods calling paying punters 'losers' doesn't benefit anyone either.

Can you really? Let me know when you start.

Lastly, if you don't like it, fuck off. It's not changing. Prick

There was only two ways to stop the virus spreading back in the early days, you either get the public's full co-operation or you adopt the chinese model of shooting those who don't comply. Along with most western democracies that had little experience with this sort of thing we didn't do either.

We did however.

A) Manage to avoid a complete meltdown of the health service.
B) Paid loads-of-money on some useful stuff (vaccines).
C) Reduce the spread to the point where we are going back to something near normal.

All without shooting anyone, and with the usual idiots who refuse to comply still mainly at liberty to disagree. That's not bad for an unprecedented event. Of course if I had been in charge we would have done better.

We did. And personally I don't think the gov did that bad a job. And you can add 'D) stop the economy totally collapsing' to that list.

It’s generally fine until you come along purely to poke it with a stick without adding anything to the discussion

Just lock it.

Can't win can we.

One half says "you're too strict, why the fuck can't you let people argue nicely"
The other half says " just lock it, i can't see why you let this carry on"

If we leave it open, we're siding with them.... if we lock it, we're siding with those....

I'd put it more in the irrelevant things that BYP rather than pissing me off. I've accepted there'll be some politics, some current affair stuff, that's OK, but as you say, when it's purely designed to provoke that's when i get slightly irked by it. But trust me here, i'm not losing sleep over it, i won't be closing the forum over it. But i will call someone a cunt if i think they need it. That's where I'm in the fortunate position that i'm allowed to call anyone anything i like :) I didn't get reported yesterday but i'd have sure laughed if i had :D

Anyway.. it's not as much of an issue for me as you'd think it may be, but every now and again i'll stomp my feet a little.
