Crimes against Gastronomy

Post by Lutin »

I thought about putting this in the utterly random picture thread, but decided that it really needed its own thread due to its utter awfulness.

Should you wish to partake of this very dubious culinary delight then you'll need to get to the Central Hotel on the Diamond in Donegal Town.

Weird menus in Ireland are not that unusual. I was offered boiled spuds as a veg to go with a pasta dish.

The guy who does the Pizzas said he started doing them after constantly being asked for them? I suppose its not that dissimilar to pancakes and crepes really. Or those funny Yorkshire folk that put jam and custard on Yorkshire pudding. Despite their name Yorkshire puddings (and pizzas) are something I can only think of as savoury in taste?

I do sweet pizzas quite a bit in my wood fired oven. We often have a big sesh with loads of Pizzas (or at least, we did when we could have people 'round) so sweet ones became desert.

Nutella is the obvious one everyone's seen.

I often do creme patissiere in place of tomato sauce and then sliced fruits with spices etc. Apple and Cinnamon is a classic of course, Plum with cinnamon and "Christmas spices" is another, or Apricots and Thyme with a drizzle of honey. Or cook just the crem pat and add raspberries or strawberries afterwards.

I had an Irish friend who specifically ordered spuds to go with his spaghetti.
