By the way, under those rare circumstances, I could legally ask who you were, and if you refused to tell me I could then arrest you anyway, so actually, any ID card could very quickly make YOUR life easier, rather than mine. Just saying.

That’s a shame, as all I do is walk down the street and randomly ask people going about their business who they are and to prove it? Rather than only doing that under very rare circumstances.

I don't know Nordboy personally but he's one of the most chilled Policemen I've come across on a forum.

I agree. But it was Nordboy who thought there was some sort of doublethink about NO2ID protesters asking to see his warrant card, apparently not seeing the difference between somebody minding their own business and somebody claiming to be a police officer.

I'd argue if you reread this thread from the start, many of those pro-ID were making it quite personal from the start. I stepped back as it was quite a hostile discussion and clearly people have their views and weren't going to change them (that applies to both sides of the debate), but have carried on reading.

Irie seems to have completely misunderstood what I've written. It was Nordboy conflating carrying ID cards (presentable upon demand to police, for example) with police officers carrying warrant cards (presentable to the public to prove that they are who they say they are when they're acting as police officers).
