Cassette to MP3 software

I want to convert what's on my old cassettes into mp3, I've bought a magic walkman thing that plugs into my mac and need some software to do the wizardry. Audacity keeps coming up on searches and looks like the best bang for my buck as it's free. Anyone got any recommendations for anything better? I have an old macbook pro that has all updates.

Audacity is simple, free and has lots of features. I've been using it for years, it looks shit but it does the business for lots of little jobs.

If iTunes can do it, that's what I'll do.

Itunes needs the converted mp3 files before adding to the library. Audacity it is then

Depends what your workflow is. If you already have the recording and want to convert into something else then iTunes will be fine. If you need something to record into then you'll need something like Audacity.

Best solution for MacOs is Garage Band. Not as complicated as Audacity despite it being very good and multi platform.
