Laptop or All In One?

Post by Yorick »

After the death of my laptop, just been round the leccy shops. Laptops are mega pricey, but these AIOs are much cheaper.

They're portable for when Pen's singing in bars.

Are the keyboards wireless?

Are there any drawbacks?

TIA :)

My wife's business uses AIO PC's, they are cabled keyboards and mice but can be wireless as back of screen has USB sockets.
They work pretty well to be fair but sure that when a component fails they'll be dumped and a new one purchased, no point in attempting a repair or upgrade.

Guessing this is moot as you've awakened it.

FYI all-in-ones are typically a laptop's guts, with bigger screen, on a stand.

We had an HP one for years, fine as long as you accept its limitations, balanced against space requirements (desktop, but no box on the floor).

Have a look at MS Surface, full Windows on a tablet. Though if you think laptops are mega pricey it may not be the right answer.

I use a normal keyboard and mouse with mine over Bluetooth but it has a USB port so even wired ones can work with a hub.

AIOs and laptops generally share the same components.

Ignore keyboards, mice etc, they're (relatively) cheap peripherals and any device will work fine with any mouse/keyboard.

The main difference is that laptops are small and portable and AIOs (roughly speaking) offer a bit more power for the money, plus much bigger screens. So there's only one question...

Are you going to carry it around a lot, is portability important? If yes, buy a laptop, if not, don't.

After discussions with woman, we've decided to buy....

Drum roll....

.....

Both :banana-dance:

AIO for dining table and lappy for Penny when she's up in her den. Or to use on the patio.

Thanks for all the help.

Pervert.

They have a keyboard option. I'm typing on one at the moment. They are rather good.
