However, you will have to go straight to the hotel and stay there for 5 days in quarantine, which puts a serious dampener on the whole trip.
I can be such a killjoy at times.
...and all three of those would make you feel cool :pPotter wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 12:06 pmThey're all just bits of metal and plastic, it's not about the actual thing, I don't value the thing, only the way it makes me feel.KungFooBob wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 10:24 am The only proper Ferrari's (if you grew up in the 80s)...
Testarossa, because they're cool.
318GTS, because they're cool and Magnum had one.
F40, because they're really fucking cool.
Everything else is shit modern crap.
So what DOES make you feel then ?Potter wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 12:15 pmIf any of those three made me feel anything at all I'd already be going after them.
They're definitely nice cars, but there are a lot of things out there that are nice but I don't want them.
A materialistic person would buy them because he just likes having nice things, I don't know what the word is for me but I don't value things very much, I tend not to look after a lot of stuff properly because I don't value the actual thing, as I said it's just about the way it makes me feel.
The man has a good point, you're a masochist if you buy a 328 or 348 but good on ya, why not ehYambo wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 10:07 amPotter wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 9:35 am Breakfast at the yacht club, then went and test drove a Ferrari that I fancy, it's a 248TS, not great on reputation as they go, but I drooled over one as a yoof and always said "One day" so it's on my bucket list.
You're getting on a bit. Were you OK getting in and out?![]()
Why? What's the point?Potter wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 3:22 pm could stick it in the garage and put <500 miles on it a year and watch it appreciate in value.
You've got pensions, savings, houses.... i'm bemused why you'd need to cash it in... but hey, it's your discussionPotter wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 3:58 pmI'd get to enjoy it for the couple of weeks a year I'm there and it's an appreciating asset, sitting there waiting to be cashed in one day.

Just the one day or do you have the rest of the mindnumbingly-boring-deathbypowerpoint of a CPC course to come??!!cheb wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 2:08 pm Sat through possibly the dullest training I've ever sat through. How to complete a vehicle walk round check app. I think they explained how to fill in each one of the 39 separate checks that are on the app, and each one is completed in exactly the same way.
Then there was the Accident app. I was stunned by the difficulty of this one, who knew that in the section for Drivers* details, you entered the driver's details? That's their name.![]()
I think I died of boredom at one point. And I hate to think how much the taxpayer has splashed out on this.
*sic, There was no apostrophe.
Nasty. I suspect I'll have to do my refresher here - once I have my Fronch driving licence!cheb wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 6:11 pm This was the annual CPC refresher course. Delivered to a company Ipad with terrible sound quality.
I think, as long as you buy a late, good one, you should at least get your initial investment back at sale time (which is more than you can say for most cars). Factor in running and service costs though and it could still cost a bit. That said, it still should be a cheap toy for a few years.Potter wrote: Thu May 13, 2021 4:26 am
I think you've made some wrong assumptions there fella, I'm not rich (or stupid) enough to spunk fifty grand plus on a car without a thought to whether I'll get any of it back in a year or two when the moment has passed and I want to sell it.
This is a toy, not a lifelong commitment.
