I owned a GSXR750 Slingshot then, traded it in for a YZF750 in the spring of 1996.

I waited 11 years. Only took car test when I needed a car to visit clients and carry IT stuff.

I passed my bike test in 1972 and didn't bother with a car until 1985 when I was 30.

It will be 50 years biking next year,if I make it that long!

Mine was 1964 and I was just 18

I can't remember the exact date, but it was summer, and I rode to the test in jeans, a light anorak and suede winklepickers. CE marked winklepickers of course. It absolutely pissed down partway there and I was soaked, literally to the skin. I recall taking my shoes off and pouring the water out of them.

I was cold, wet and pissed off. So pissed off I DGAS. I passed first time.

I didn’t take my bike test till I needed to produce a valid full license to get a job as a bike courier as they wouldn’t take me on without one. I “may” have been riding under dubious legality for a few years previous to my test as I was 20 by the time I took it.

My bike was the last one I got

Pilots licence age 17 in Sept 1984
Car license age 19 on 21 11 1986 and I got engaged on the same day
Bike license age 20 on 20 04 1988 on a CG125 borrowed from a mate as I was riding an RD250LC at the time

Snap. I did my test on a borrowed KH125 as well. I had a KH100 but my mate gave me his shop's 125 for my test (no idea why).

I passed mine a month later 15/02/1996. It snowed on the day of my test and was bastard cold. It was 3 months before I was 20

Never bothered taking a bike test until i started riding again around 1990? Seems mad to say it now, but not many of us bothered with it back in 70s & 80s? Stupid thing was it was so easy to pass back then, you just rode round the block and at some point the examiner would step out and hold up his board and you did an emergency stop and that was it!
