I've recently got one, I used it a bit, just on the hob for now as it's not quite BBQ weather. It's OK but I honestly can't see what the fuss is about.

Raw cast iron pans like Rick's (I hope he's got a sand blaster) can be heated to a very high heat without them buckling/melting. Having got fecking hot, they tend to stay hot for quite a while.
Enameled or non stick coated cast iron, like Le Creuset, not so much. Although I do have a BFO Le Creuset raw cast iron griddle plate that's ace for cooking steak. And for arm, chest and shoulder workouts.

They can be used on any heat source, including camp fires, are non-stick if treated/seasoned properly & don't have any of the nasties that (apparently) come with non-stick coatings.

A TP960, but not using it for the pan resto/rescue. Elbow grease, vinegar & oven cleaner. I may use electrolysis next time after a week in the Lye bucket.

It's not the same as mine - it's Le Creuset and fashions change dahhhhhling, but mine didn't come coated in owt. It got wiped over with groundnut oil and had a couple of goes in a very hot oven

Actual seasoning of the two skillets started today. They're getting wiped down with lard, then baked for an hour or so at 450deg & allowed to cool. At least three cycles depending on results, first cycle started. Pics when I'm done.

Lovin' mine (cheap no name no history Amazon special), it's at home on the Weber, or on the fire box of the smoker or in the smoker, it retains heat bloody well when I'm pissing about, clean up with a wipe and most importantly for me doesn't melt.
Think I may play with a Dutch oven next and channel my inner Kent Rollins

Added two more pieces today...8in skillet for eggs & toasted sarnies & a 10.5 in grill pan for steaks
