I don't think petrol engines have dmfs - pretty sure the Mini has a Peugeot engine btw

If it's a 05, it's probably a Frist Gen with the Tritec engine. The PSA/BMW Prince engine was in the Gen Two.

Sounds about right, the engine probably has to come out, so £400 labour and £150 for the clutch

Can you buy another car that'll do the job for £550?
Quick Google says the clutch kit is £180

I had a clutch in a gen 2 done - BMW/Mini quoted me 1700 GBP.
I then got a quote from Mr Clutch - who would do it for 1100 GBP.

So BMW matched that price.
I would say 500 GBP seems reasonable - I think they have to lift the engine

Farq...

More than the car's worth.

Guy who quoted me was't sure if it was dual mass clutch (after quoting) so bit of a concern..
Once it's in, and in bits, you're snookered.

Thanks for the input peeps- excellent as always

Be careful supplying your own clutch, some of them had 17 spline input shafts and some had 18 spline.
