Is 14v at tickover is too high?

Ideal is 14.5, but 14 is ok

No. It should be around 13.8 to 14.4v if its charging okay.

Well, the list of what's needed doesn't look too bad till you start looking for bits!! Ebay and google don't like me much! LOL

But, still. It works and that is the most important bit!!

R/h footrest assembly
Rear mudguard/numberplate holder
Rear indicators
2 X fuel filter
LHD head light (probably - maybe!!)

I've posted on the DesmoDue FB page has any bits around, but postage might be prohibitive (Although I've got a friend in S'ton that would be delivery address and then send on to me )

Cos he's still testing/checking - it "boiled a cell in the battery I was using"??

Did it though ? How are we judging that on a battery that's more than a decade old ? Hmmmm. It could be several reasons why... it could have been replaced after the battery failed...

TBH with 14.0 at the terminals, i wouldn't be looking in that direction at the moment.. i'd keep it in mind for the future, but leave it.

I'd want to know that it regulates properly i.e. isn't pushing out 16+ volts at higher revs before discounting it. Easy to check and will definitively determine if the reg/rectifier is ok

On the reg/rec - I don't know. I'm not there with the bike. But he is pretty techy/eleckytechy!!

Equally - he's said the electrics are being put to one side for a bit whilst he works on the more mechanicky bits (and waits for me to get him a battery!!)

The headlight is a Bosch unit, used on BMWs.

The fuel filter is used on some Fiats, if he takes it to a car spares place they'll have one for a lot less than a Ducati one, I go to my local auto factors. Indicators are same as some Hondas,

I'll see if there is a car spares place near him or if he's going near one (he's in the sticks!!)

He's done the list 'like for like', so this one has a fuel tap!

What would I search for on the headlight - BMW headlight but what model?

I'd get those bars re-angled - they look like they are pointing upwards at the ends. That's a wrist-knackering position. They should be angled towards you and down to fit with the wrist's natural angle.

When I made some new bars for the Duke I hd the bars angled 20 degrees back and 20 degrees down from horizontal. That's about where my wrists feel most comfortable. It's not just wrists that get knackered with bad bar position; elbows and even shoulders suffer too.

I was assuming I'd need the unit as it needs to point the correct way for driving on the right - it currently has a UK headlight so points the way for driving on the left

If it's possible to take it apart, I guess I'd only need the lens/glass bit??

Right, i've been approached and requested to set something up for the funding of getting the Monster back up and running.

Not only is it a well know TRC/RTTL person who's bike it is but also a well known person from both forums who's repairing/sorting it. (I'll let them announce if they wish). As you'll know, Noggin has had a rough arse of a time of it in the last few years with shoulder issues and i guess suffering more than most from CV19 lonelyiness in the wastelands of a French resort that's closed and snowy. So we as a forum can help to get the bike back up and running.
The forum will be able to throw a few quid in, but currently there's not a massive amount in the pot we have, so it will be £25 from us in that sense. Apologies it's not more, but we've got to keep the lights on here as a priority more than anything else i'm afraid.

So the plan is for people to be able to help out if they want and see if we as a group can get the Monster for Noggin back up and running.

To save on logistics and setting up something like a crowdfunding thing, i'll just use the forum option of 'DONATIONS'
