MTB stems

Post by Le_Fromage_Grande »

What's a good brand for a MTB stem, I want to change mine from a 75mm stem to a 50mm so it steers quicker.

TBH, I'm not sure what make a stem 'good' other than not failing at a critical time, and in reality any make has the potential to do that.

Planet x / on one do them for £20, chain reaction are double that

My only concern is that it's strong enough, and I'm hardly riding at World Championship speed

In most case they are just a stem. I went through years ( and probably 500 quid) on just buying Thomson ones ...
I also have some cheap ones - like Ragley and On-One.
Only the Thomsons have ever broken ...

Ordered a £15 stem off Amazon, I'll try it out, if I don't like the handling it can be a spare, if I like the handling but it looks shit quality, I can buy a decent one, and it can still be a spare.

Because it's low quality, it looks horrible, I'm going to be a total tart and try and buy a Haibike 50mm stem, I know they exist, they're fitted to the AllMtn bikes, just getting hold of one appears to be difficult - so I've asked if anyone has one for sale on the Haibike owners Facebook page

What is so special about a Haibike stem? It’s not like they make them ...

Nothing really, it will match the rest of the bike though.

What Weeksy is to KTM, I am to Haibike (actually I'm not that bad, but after spending £2.5K on a bicycle I want it to look nice)
