Who knows their dried fish skin?
I found this on the beach today:
I'm guessing at a dogfish or similar.

My first instinct (and I'm no expert) is a primitive teleost rather than a cartilaginous fish.

I think the eggs could be a red herring (!).
Looking at the skin again, the scales are pretty rough, maybe it was a shark/ray.

It's to my shagreen I didn't recognise the skin.
Shagreen/chagrin, get it? No? I won't give up the day job.
Dogfish are sharks, therefore I can claim to have died and wrestled sharks
