If Asda don't offer a premium E5 blend I'm going to have to change petrol stations , still it might be a good time to take out shares in seafoam :banana-wrench:

There was an article in MCN I think saying whilst you don't want to leave it in your tanks for most modern bikes it's fine in regular use. But don't leave it in the tank. They cited lots of European countries already using E10 with few issues and Merca has up to E15 I think.

For me I only ever put Super in the 690 as it has a plastic tank and it only sips petrol so will carry on doing that. I think Esso are still planning on keeping their super E free, so whilst it's marked E5 it's actually 0 except in a few parts of the country.

Indycar has been using E98 for donkeys years....the 2% petrol is just to make it burn yellow rather than invisible. So clearly you can make it work in high performance engines.

Has that ever been in doubt? The problems arise when you try to use use it in engines and systems that weren't designed for it.

I've got into the habit of dropping the fuel in the bike's carbs after every run. Possibly not ideal but it seems to work for me.

I don't think that point is in question- the main issue ( for me, anyway) with ethanol is its ability to absorb water and the issues that causes over time- I only use Esso super in my old / carburetor equiped bikes now, as unbunging gungy carbs and having older plastic tanks grow and split gets tedious

Have to say, on the auld Triumphs I just turn the fuel taps off slightly before I get home. Need to get the knack of turning it off at just the right point now. :D

Well my late 80s tech Hondas seem to work fine on it.

Of course in 10 years time we might not have petrol at all, and if we do it'll be a grand a litre. ;)

I covered this in my live Elevenses webcast ages ago... I had a list of which bikes are E10 ready and it's quite surprising.
