Boots - rst or tcx
Boots - rst or tcx
Hi All,
Looking at replacing my 22 Yr old Sidi boots. So far have the TCX S Speed and the RST Tractech in mind. Anybody have any experience of either? Any advice around sizing etc. Mostly used for road bimbling and possibly a track day in the distant future.
Thanks

Re: Boots - rst or tcx
I've had two pairs of Oxtar/TCX boots and they've been great. Lasted much longer than the A*'s they replaced.
I probably wouldn't buy RST ones because I don't want people to think I'm poor (even though I am).

I've "tested" a few pairs of Alpinestar SMXZ boots on track. That's all I ever wore in 15 years instructing and playing.

I have the TCX S-Speed GTX Gore-Tex as they came recommended by someone who has "crashed a few times in them and they worked".
After five odd thousand miles they are comfortable and waterproof. Well worth the money

I picked up a used pair of these. Considerable savings to be made and come ready broken in,if you don't mind the idea of someone else's feet being there first.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:01 pm If you can afford them Daytona, they're very comfy
A very well made boot.

Re: Boots - rst or tcx
Daytona seem to be the undisputed champs but as they are leather, they are worn in specifically to whoever wore them in? Feeling someone else's footprint freaks me out a little. And TCX are greatSkub wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:07 pmI draw the line at second hand trunks......well,maybe...Trinity765 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:03 pmYou're not the one buying second hand bootsKungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:04 pm I've had two pairs of Oxtar/TCX boots and they've been great. Re: Boots - rst or tcx
The race Daytona's that were an inner boot with a replaceable outer boot (that you cold change when the sponsors colours changed), where a proper halo product.
Re: Boots - rst or tcx
Daytonas are a bit beyond my means but are things of beauty. Had been leaning towards the TCX, last time I bought any kit RST were the budget option. Was wondering if RST had gone up in people's opinion.
Do the TCX boots fit true to size?

I bought my Daytonas new, I feel like Richie Rich.
Though they did come from a German discount shop, they're mildly interesting colours and I've got small feet, meaning they were a pair that were hard to sell, I don't think I'd have paid full price for them.

Re: Boots - rst or tcx
TCX for me. First Oxtars lasted years and were still waterproof and I now have a pair of TCX Clima and they are awesome. So comfy.
Re sizing my Oxtar were 43/Uk 9 and were perfect. As a replacement I bought a pair of TCX S Speed Gore Tex in the same size, but they very slightly pinched my toes. I thought they'd be fine but they weren't and I didn't wear them much. Which is a pity as they are awesome boots.
I then bought another new pair of TCX Clima Surround and in the 43/UK 9 are perfect! I think it's the amount of padding/armour in the S Speed pushing my foot forward that is the problem. Other than that I'd say TCX fit to size.
I have that pair of TCX S Speed Gore Tex in a box under the stairs I've been meaning to sell for ages if you're interested. Might work esp if you are an 8 to 9. Let me know, been meaning to get an Ad up for ages.
