The police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright is facing a charge of manslaughter.
The officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt will not face any charges.
It seems that to get justice in America you need to indulge in a spot of "mostly peaceful" protest.

Routine low risk stops can go sideways quick time;
I remember that being all over worldwide news.

Oh...actually I don't, because there was no leftist agenda to push.
I've seen it a few times this week.. suddenly Faux News isn't looking so fake...

As for the first chump, we actually had his stupid mother on the news asking why the COPS escalated the situation... They should have shot that stupid bitch too.

And that moron shot at her when there were cops right behind her... I guess if he'd missed he would have used them as a back-stop.

This thread could run and run.....

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56768217

Adam Toledo, aged 13, shot by police in Chicago*.

It kind of begs the question, what were the parents doing whilst Adm was innocently being gunned down? The mayor was quick to hold a press conference and declare, "Simply put, we failed Adam and we cannot afford to fail one more young person in our city."

Who failed Adam exactly? The police, who respond to a report of shots fired and chase a fleeing suspect down a dark alley? The schools, the parents, social services?

I know one thing, my kid would never have been out at 2.30am aged 13.

That seems to me like an accidental shot, he had his finger on the trigger but didn't mean to pull it right then. There's no way he'll admit to that.

In that copper's shoes, which I wouldn't be because my balls ain't big enough, I may well have done the same thing.

If you were a copper in the States right now, how low must your morale be?

Fuck me....

The Gun Violence Archive puts the number of gun violence deaths from all causes at 12,395 so far this year in the US, of which 147 were in mass shootings. Last year saw a total of 43.549 deaths, and 610 in mass shootings.

Just staggering.

As I understand it, he was chasing an armed Adam, but it turned out Adam had lobbed the gun seconds earlier without the Cop seeing it. He could have shoot him whilst he was running away*, but didn't, choosing to chase and try to catch him. Given he still thought Adam was armed, then perhaps there was some tension on the trigger as Adam turned towards the cop, so maybe you're right?

*ISTR US Cops can fire at anyone if the perp is perceived as posing a threat to life?

Someone has to pick it up, load it, cock it, point it at someone, disable the safety catch and pull the trigger.

True, but if they didn't have it, they wouldn't be able to do any of that.

At the bottom of the above page, after the annoying ads, is a visual showing the gun deaths per capita. Not surprisingly, UK is low, coz we ain't got none (for all intent and purpose), ditto Japan. What's telling is that Canada has a not-dissimilar level of gun ownership, but they don't really go around shooting one another. IIRC, after a mass shooting a few years back, Trudeau banned assault rifles, which seems so blindingly obvious as the right thing to do, but the US can't and won't do the same. I've yet to hear a convincing argument as to why any balanced person would want to own an assault weapon. In fact, wanting to own one is a pretty compelling reason not to give them one.

So you're agreeing with me that people kill people and not guns, I'm not in favour of gun ownership, but the answer is education, or make the bullets cost a $1000 each.

Well, clearly Murans and guns are not a good mix, so something needs to give. Unfortunately there's too many of both, so the proverbial horse has bolted. I've no problem with what they get up to over there, but they really need to stop bleating over the society they've created.

Bed made, now fucking lie in it.

Yeah but, what if it’s a double action revolver?

And it’s already loaded!

Define assault rifle? It's like saying ban sports bikes to make roads safer.

Well, that would work for sports bike crashes...

From that map, it seems that the problem is an American problem, not specifically a USA problem. Canada and Chile are the exceptions, not the norm.

I had a Lee Enfield .303 when I was 16. The whole works including a bayonet. (They didn't trust me unsupervised with bullets, mind. :) )
