The copper in the OP is now going to court for manslaughter. So now police as well as not being the highest paid profession and having dangerous work will now get you thrown in prison for an admittedly very stupid mistake at work. I can see it becoming an unpopular vocation pretty quick.

The police can't be seen to be above the law.

Easy mistake to make. It's obvious that the object on the left is a Taser. NO! The object on the right.

Re: If I was being pulled over by coppers...
Dealing with a known crim with firearm charges to his name and he's wriggling about in front of you, could you really tell the difference between hand grips and triggers in the heat of the moment? Maybe SOP should change with a taser being front drawn and the firearm remain side drawn?moth wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 10:09 pm Easy mistake to make. They didn't know that at the time, only that he was already wanted.

Re: If I was being pulled over by coppers...
I was trained in both and carried both ....one is nothing like the other, Normal firearm is heavier made of metal (mostly), grip feels different, its black, magazine is in the handle with the weight of the rounds added, safety catch is left side to flick down with thumb. Taser is made of plastic, lighter, bright yellow, cartridge at the front, safety catch is reachable on both sides. If all else fails when held out in front of you in the aim position the Taser is bright Yellow which is the major clueYambo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:11 am Iirc (I read the story early this morning) the cop had been on the force for 26 years or so. You'd like to think that with that sort of experience she'd know what weapon she had in her hand ffs.
Of course, it brings into question the shape and feel of a tazer - if it is too much like a handgun then there's an obvious issue. But I ceased to be amazed/shocked by the way Americans behave around guns a long time ago. I'm just glad we gave the idiots independence.
Firearm should be carried in the side thats dominant as its a weapon of last resort and needed immediately. The Taser is a less lethal option so normally carried on the opposite side to reach across for it so in my case Taser on the left, Pistol on the right.
The video shows the pistol held out in an aim position ....then fired

Yes, good point. Click the link, read it
A handgun weighs rather more than a taser too. That's a clue.

The warrant was for non-attendance at (virtual) court. I very much doubt the coppers actually checked what the charges that landed him in court were.Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 11:25 pmWhat, like, this man is wanted but we can't tell you what for as its a secret?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 11:21 pmThey didn't know that at the time, only that he was already wanted.

Re: If I was being pulled over by coppers...
Just watched the video again and she is clearly heard to say twice "I'll Tase you", "I'll Tase you", then followed by " Taser Taser Taser" which is the warning to other officers that a taser is about to be fired in case they are in contact with the suspect ....followed by the bang of the pistol and then its Bleeped out which i will assume is "oh fuck"
She fucked up, probably through adrenaline and an element of fear/panic but listening to the the audio she went through the correct drills for a taser shot but had a live pistol in her hand at the time

Couple of teenage girls have a great scam going. Order an Uber then taze the driver and nick his car. last time they did it, they ended up killing him; crushed by his own car.
Probably won't hear too much about it. The ethnicity of the offenders does not fit the media narrative.

Does being teenage girls qualify as 'belonging to an ethnicity'? Wow, you learn something every day.DEADPOOL wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 12:23 am Couple of teenage girls have a great scam going.
