right I have a few stickers the pervious owner has added to a bike, there is one on the front mud guard and also the side panels, what's the best way to attack this???

Yup, the heat will soften the glue and make the sticker more flexible so it should pull off in a oner.
Unless it's a twenty year old BMW ABS sticker on a fork leg, one of those fuckers will take you an hour.
If you have to scrape remember to use a scraper that's softer than the paint, like and old credit card rather than something metal like a knife.

ok thats great news, the stickers are only about 3 years old, my father in law stuck them on when he got it and its never been out of his garage.

Any residue left over, if you haven't got sticky stuff remover try either WD-40 or a mix of bicarbonate of soda and olive oil (left on for a short while).
