It’s lovely to drink from and nearly a pint big. Haven’t seen one like it before or since it was given to me :( :(

Araldite* works well on pottery if it's not in too many bits.

I will mend it - there are a few tiny pieces that have vanished under the kitchen unit, but it's basically a third of the mug has split off :( :(

Funny, a few people have mentioned that!!! I doubt I'd want to risk drinking from it cos of the way it's broken, but it will be glued and I'll use it instead of a plastic drinking cup as a pen pot!! :D

This pic is part of the reason the mug was/is special - my last cat used to try to 'help' me drink my tea!!

That's really annoying, the revised covid timetable has halved my scheduled trains so when I ventured back into the office last year I got home later on an overcrowded train. The train company wasn't doing much to convince people to get back on trains.

Gave me a courtesy car, apologised that it needed fixing at all, did the job and didn't come up with any imaginary work...they even uploaded the latest sat nav data for free "since we had it in anyway".
Yep, same fault. I now have a 320D M-Sport tourer for the night as they couldn’t clear a fault on the EGR valve without reflashing the firmware... Free inspection found 4 ceased link rod ends and a tyre is at 2.5mm, so legal but advisory. Strangely didn’t pick up on the MOT advisories of brake pads.

The other car is at the local specialist so I’ll ask him about the link rods.

Glass shelves. Glass shelves in fridges in particular :(

Was just cleaning the beer fridge and touched the shelf on the granite kitchen worktop and whoosh. Thousands of tiny bits flying round the tiled kitchen floor. By hell, they travel a long way. Swept twice then vacuumed to make sure.

Bugger :(

Torch held down low, 'sweep' across. Any sharps will refract and glint. Then wipe up with damp kitchen paper.

If you want to find the last bits, invite me round, feed me copious amounts of cider and then when I'm blundering around in bare feet in the kitchen at 0500 looking for a cup of water and paracetamol I'll painfully find all the remaining bits.

French banks

Well, more specifically, my business account manager at the French Bank

The previous account manager was helpful and informative.

This guy is a fuckwit!! Actually caused me huge issues just by not giving me information when he could

Today's issue isn't huge but irritating - the bank puts an arbitrary limit on debit cards. So, due to paying a load of bills online by card, I tried to pay another and the card didn't work. I asked if the limit was the reason (never been told what the limit was!!) and yes, that was the limit. I requested that the limit be increased today to enable me to make the payment and could he please let me know if it was possible to increase it permanently

Response was - I've increased it for today to enable the payment. It is not possible to increase it permanently

It's actually set really low, so that in the winter it has caused issues and if I go back to two vans, it will cause issues on a monthly basis :angry-cussingblack:

I've been told that I can get a higher limit if I change the card and pay more for the account - why did the account manager not give me that option

He's a total cock-womble :angry-cussingblack:

if it was possible
My mate in France was explaining a few days ago how antiquated French banking is.

He's having to move fair chunks of money to cover building materials and costs.

He said about the low daily and weekly limits on spending, and limits on transfers, and the number of discussions where he has to explain what he needs to do with his money then ask "is it possible?"

Yup. It's a nightmare. When I mentioned it to friends at lunchtime she suggested paying by transfer - no limits on bank transfers, which makes no sense!!

It's not as if I can go overdrawn because it's only a debit card that will only work with what is in the account

I have a business TransferWise account because it just got too difficult. Last year my biggest customer paid me into the TW account and everything else went into the normal bank account. At least that way if I needed to spend more than 1500€ on the card in a month, I could! I usually moved the money from TW myself to the normal account but at least it meant I wasn't stuck somewhere trying to pay   I set up the TW when I filled up with fuel one day (around 90€), a couple of thousand euros in the business account, no other payment method with me, and I couldn't pay for the fuel :o It wouldn't be so bad if you got a notification that you were close or had hit the limit, but you don't :angry-cussingblack:

Thing is, he never told me there was a limit on the business card or how much that limit was. So I just thought the bank was shit, hence the TW account.

A lot of French systems are antiquated. There is a little charm about some of it and the pace of life isn't frenetic like in the UK, but sometimes it's just sodding ridiculous

Stock levels on websites

Trip to toolstation to pick up a web order and needed something else which was showing in stock, 15 mins later, item isn’t in stock and I’m on my way.

Next to B&Q, website is showing 57 bags of postcrete in stock, now I’ve been bitten by this before but thought it safe to attempt to pick up 3-4 bags, nope, not a single bag in stock which according to the member of staff is because head office hasn’t updated their stock system since Easter weekend.

WTAF?!?

Toolstation has really annoyed me with this recently. Two delivery orders were missing large parts and after I get a text saying my click and collect is ready I get there and part of it is out of stock.
Generally it is still much better than DIY shopping was a few years back.

People who tailgate :angry-cussingblack:

It is basically a national sport here - or at least in my area. And I have been told that they teach learner drivers to tailgate so they are in 'a better position to make an overtake'

But today two cars tailgated me, both in villages  One was so close to the back of me (I was driving a hire car) that I really thought he was going to push me out of the way so I pulled over. We were less than 5 minutes from town. How can anything be so important that you are likely to either have an accident or get pulled by the police for speeding (after the overtake)

The other one didn't like me doing 30mph in a village (it was on a long straight road, but a village none the less) so went hooning past me!!!

Fucwits :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:
