Re: Apparently you's lot AIN'T well racist, innit?
The only real issue here is that the word 'racist' has a completely different meaning nowadays, ore than one meaning you could probably say.
I think it's current primary definition is "Someone who doesn't agree with me." whilst other definitions include 'White person', 'State Institutions', 'conservative' and 'English speaker'.
Actively treating those of a different race/skin colour etc differently (the definition I grew up with) is, I guess, something different nowadays.

Remember what happened last time you kept accusing people of 'moaning'? The clever lads had to have a quiet word with you and thus admonished, you flounced off.
Life in the UK is smashing for positive people, you can be whatever you want, so don't be a moaner.
You do seem to keep saying other people are moaning when that's not the case. Opinions different to your own are not automatically 'moaning'.

No. I was suggesting the BMJ is more trustworthy than the Daily Mail.Potter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 4:27 amIs this angst because your BTL, where you wanted to mug off poor people to make you money for nothing, didn't work out?Asian Boss wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:51 pm Let's ignore the BMJ then and get our information from the Daily Mail. Why would you bring my buying a house into it?

Thought I'd seen that somewhere before. It's become a trite BLM soundbite used to accuse anyone who denies being a racist of racism and in doing so discredit anything they say. A transparent tactic to close down discourse.Asian Boss wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 7:26 pmDenial is the heartbeat of racism.Yambo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 9:16 am The only real issue here is that the word 'racist' has a completely different meaning nowadays, ore than one meaning you could probably say.

Most racists don't realise they're racist. They think they're 'just' defending statues / seeking to reduced other peoples' rights and treat them less well based on their race / trying to cleanse the world and create a master race; and that those things are entirely justified.

That's pretty much what was said above. It basically means that anyone who disagrees with you is a racist and thereby disqualifies their views for consideration.Asian Boss wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 8:24 pmNow there's another false binary.irie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 8:00 pmThought I'd seen that somewhere before. I'm not sure what your argument is here. Are you saying that black people treating white people badly because they're white is not racism?Asian Boss wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 7:26 pmDenial is the heartbeat of racism.Yambo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 9:16 am The only real issue here is that the word 'racist' has a completely different meaning nowadays, ore than one meaning you could probably say.

Re: Apparently you's lot AIN'T well racist, innit?
IMO this goes back to what someone said near the start of this thread. Being a minority of any sort causes disadvantage. Be that cos of your skin colour, religion, sex, disability whatever.
So do I think people have more of a struggle if they are from a minority group. Yes. Do I think this is only something that happens in white countries. No.
My view is mainly down to where I was born. Wembley. There were 33 kids in my class, 3 of them were white. Was I mugged specifically cos I was white and therefore fairly defenceless, yes. Was I called names, yes. Was a white girl beaten and stripped of her top cos she had the cheek to wear a Bob Marley t-shirt to school, yes. An Iranian girl and her white boyfriend were threatened multiple times as inspite of not being Indian she was close enough in colour for her to considered brown and no brown girl was gonna date a white guy in our school. So on and so forth.
Has that turned me racist? No I don't think so but it has opened my eyes to how difference is treated and its not just a white thing.
And I still see it now. I work in Harrow there are about 60 people in my office 7 are white. Depending on who you are talking to I often hear what you'd definitely class racist terms made by the Asian people about the black people and vice versa. And I'm pretty certain they do it about us whites too. The difference? I keep my mouth firmly shut. Any remark by me would be treated very differently if someone should want to make trouble.
So whilst I'm definitely sure being a minority in any way can make things difficult I don't think this is a unique white thing or a UK thing and a lot of the things I read are too keen to miss the most important point as far as I can see. People look for the familiar. You see that in Ex Pats in Spain, Poles in Peterborough, Indians in Bradford etc etc. Japan's record on racial theory was hardly inclusive.
So does being black in Britain for example make things harder. Yes I reckon. Is that cos I'm racist. IMO it's not as simple as that and chucking about the R word at all and sundry only helps divide not bring us together.
What's the answer? Fuck knows. But hundreds of thousands of years hasn't stopped humanity from looking for what it knows and no amount of marches or statue pulling is gonna make much odds in the short term and neither is deeming a whole country racist.

Why are you a racist AB?
Were you just born one or did you pick it up along the way? Your audience wants to know.

But you've jumped on the "racism" bus purely as a political vehicle to moan.
I don't think you really care about racism. In fact you very often mock black culture with your Bo Selector "baddest man around" skits, which present you as an actual racist hiding behind "it's only for a laugh, it's all harmless fun" stuff, rather than an accidental casual racist.
And now when it suits to further your whining about the Eton cowboys you turn on the "racism" tap.
You're prone to hypocrisy but I think this one is a stretch even for you.
Once again you're suggesting people expressing opinions different to your own are 'moaning'; perhaps as a way of dismissing those opinions without having to deal with them.

Not at all. I'm suggesting, as the intelligent press has and chattering classes have been doing for some time; that we live in a society with some racist background and that still exists along with racist bias and that should be acknowledged and dealt with appropriately.irie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 8:35 pmThat's pretty much what was said above. Back in the 90s I worked in Saudi Arabia for just over 3 weeks. An openly racist country. I've been to south Africa twice (for a month each time) and it was still openly racist. 2018 and 2019 I went to Nepal, It may not be as bad as India but they still have a caste system - maybe not racist under the old meaning but downright racist under your meaning.
I'm sure there are other places around the world that are just as openly racist as those few. What are you and the anti-racists going to do about them bearing in mind the UK is nowhere near as bad?

I do love the "I'm not as racist as those real racists!" argument. That has real mileage. Popular in pubs for racists of all classes up and down the land.
