2nd hand FS 29er

My BiL has an old Boardman HT which he uses for xc across the Wiltshire downs and the Salisbury plain. Its too small for him, its a medium frame and he's 6'3, but half man, half Gibbon.
His mate has recently got a newish Whyte FS and he's now realised he needs to get something more suitable.

I know the market is a bit crazy atm but is there anything decent he can get or should look out for, half decent, under a grand (2nd hand)?

Giant Anthem would suit the bill perfectly really, fast, light and effective. One of the best all-round 29ers out there.

If going Whyte it's a T-129 2nd hand.

At 6ft 3ins he needs to be looking at XL frames - unless he is very short in the leg ( BTW, I am - and Coptic XL fits me likes glove). As The Boss says there are not that many around at the moment. I found Whyte XL small and short. (And under 1k may be an issue). Giant or Trek would be a good shout. There is a MTB Facebook selling page - but it is full of knobs

Well he ended up buying a brand new Focus Jam 29er for around £2k.
gets Delivered in a week or two. No idea or the spec.
D they have a decent name?

Yes. Focus are yet another German brand that were founded by an ex racer. Generally good quality, well built and well regarded.
