Things you find in old toolboxes. I love old toolboxes, and their contents.
Today's find. A baccy tin from god-knows-when
My previous favourite find - a 'world cup pencil' from the 80s featuring hoddle, Barnes and fashanu

Rescuing this old beast. She's an enormous Rottweiler x GSD and at 9 wasn't exactly top of the list for finding a forever home. Plus she was an outside dog and she stank. But a good bath and a brush sorted a lot of it out and she's the softest natured dog I've ever seen. Probably won't get very long with her, but she'll be living out her final years in comfort with her new doggy mates

When the two cars in front of me take the short cut, but I don't bother because I'm in a big van.
A few minutes later they come out the other end of the shortcut..... right behind me

Paper based packing tape. It's quiet to use, tears easily and you can find the torn end without fuss.

That I talked to two Frenchies this morning that would normally just 'bonjour' me and ignore. But because I was talking to a mutual friend and he told them I speak quite well, they started talking with me too. Blooming awesome!!! I will integrate. I'll never be local but if the locals accept me and talk to me that will make me incredibly happy

Calling my son out to come and jump start the mighty Yaris in Morrisons car park because I’ve sat in it with everything on draining the battery.
I’m now the child and he’s the adult

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Partially covered in the BMP thread but it's good to share the good news.
I had to fit a fuel tank to a 990 superduke and they are a pain in the arse, they don't fit properly.
I left the (plastic) tank out in the sun to warm up and I modified the hinges slightly.
It went on !!, almost easily
, not perfect, but a million miles from the fight they normally put up !

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
I broke my oldest, most used and favourite mug this morning (almost 20 years tho, so it had a better record than me!!). Posted on FB cos I was miserable (and waiting for school to start!!) and someone found a couple of links to the same version - then a friend messaged me to tell me not to buy it. She'd bought it and would send it to me (with some biscuits her hubby has been threatening to send for months!).
Made me really appreciate that I have awesome friends. TBF, I already know I do. But it doesn't hurt to be reminded!

If La Poste think there's food in it, they'll confiscate it.Noggin wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 3:22 pm I broke my oldest, most used and favourite mug this morning (almost 20 years tho, so it had a better record than me!!). Not so far!! Some sent me a parcel with 'kitchen utensils' written on the outside - fully expected that one to be opened!! Not had a win since December.
Used to get at least £25 every other month.
I reckon they'd be better invested in a Panigale V4S, but her indoors isn't convinced.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Boiler has been shutting off and displaying a f23 code. We have breakdown insurance on teh boiler etc, so we called EDF's repair monkeys out twice and both times they managed not to fix it!
Gave up on them and called the local heating engineer/Plumber i use. He wet hoovered this, flushed out that etc and its fixed. Told me the magnetic filter I have on their is next to useless as its clean as a whistle and let everything clog up the boiler. Only charged me £50 for today's work.
He's coming back in a couple of weeks to fit a proper magnetic filter, an outside tap and 2 double rads and a chrome towel rad, system flush and inhibitor put in and all for £675.

I hope you've told the breakdown insurance people all this and cancelled your policy !Taipan wrote: Thu Apr 08, 2021 12:42 pm Boiler has been shutting off and displaying a f23 code. Nah we'll keep the policy as it covers emergency call out and the drains etc.Jody wrote: Thu Apr 08, 2021 2:09 pmI hope you've told the breakdown insurance people all this and cancelled your policy !Taipan wrote: Thu Apr 08, 2021 12:42 pm Boiler has been shutting off and displaying a f23 code.
