Rocking Bike

Post by GuzziPaul »

Built this for my grandson from scraps of wood in the shed and a couple of old walking sticks

Its a half scale model of ny Le Mans
tarted with an off the cuff comment about my next project to to do in lockdown ( the first one) and timescales have slipped a bit, was going to be ready for Xmas but that was abandoned, as was the 22mm to 35mm copper exhaust pipes and the rear suspension from old guzzi valve springs, plastic pike and aluminium tape.
Just got to make the rockers now, but as I'm sheilding I have to send my wife to B&Q to get the wood. I've given her a short length of 38 x75 and asked her to get a couple of 2.4m lengths of some similar. I want it to rock end to end rather than side to side like the original. Although I did contemplate some side to side movement so he could practise leaning and getting his knee down ( not that I have done it on the Le Mans)
Screen will be made from an old dark visor somewhere in the loft.
New deadline is the 8th March when the next granchild is due, so I,m aim for the end of feb.

And a set of 'heads' to hit knees on, just like the real thing.

Sensible looking tyres, front mudguard, no pod filter and a black seat. That's a yes from me.

BTW, there looks to be fiction and non fiction mixed together on the same shelves. Stop it.
