Distinguished Gentleman's Ride: 2021

I've got me two suitable "Classic & vintage style motorcycles" and a silly open face helmet, I just need a tweed jacket and maybe a monocle!

I've not done it before, I've never had a suitable bike. I think Nidge does it.

Re: Distinguished Gentleman's Ride: 2021
Day before my wedding anniversary.
Really want to do it on the Bonneville, but I need to pull my finger out. Realisticialy I doubt I could get it back together and running well enough I'd be confident in an all-dayer on it in time.

My problem is I'm not sure a gentleman would ride a two stroke.

I do- or rather I have done for the last 6 years but unfortunately the new date clashes with the Kickback Custom Show I’ve already got tickets forKungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:04 pm I've not done it before, I've never had a suitable bike. I think Nidge does it.

A water-cooled two stroke with deflector-top pistons might pass.

Where is it? It seems to suggest it's everywhere and nowhere.
I could get all Kappa'd up and take the little XL.

Hmm... wonder if I can get the 1980 CB250RS out?

I can probably source some sprats from Jamie the Fish Guy who delivers weekly.

Re: Distinguished Gentleman's Ride: 2021
I'd go for the laugh but reckon I'd let the side down as I own nothing that looks remotely DGR friendly. And if I went out and bought some I'd probably be better off chucking that cash in the charity.

Re: Distinguished Gentleman's Ride: 2021
IME it's not strictly enforced, they do ask that those not dressed in the spirit of the event don't ride at the front so that the publicity pics are DGR friendly but other than that anyone can tag along (even if they don't publicly admit it)

It's the day after my birthday - not that I'll be doing it, not my idea of fun.Rockburner wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:01 pm That's my birthday.

Re: Distinguished Gentleman's Ride: 2021
Ditto, plus you're riding with a bunch of people with widely differing experience of bikes. Not my idea of fun at all. Same reason I always drove to work on "ride your bike to work day". I'm real picky about who I ride with, there's a couple of local (former) ZRX owners who I refuse to share the road with. One dull fucker cut into a group ride on a freeway about 15ft in front of me where we're all doing about 90mph & promptly took his hand off the throttle to hold up his camera & take a pic looking back over his head. We had words at the next stop.
