I always think they look too short length wise for their height - it might be the seat tank interface being level that I don't like

I do like them, even the standard bike. Proper dinky in real life.

Don't like them in any guise. Prefer the 690 Duke.

Another ruddy razor blade instead of a seat.

This ^^^.

You just know it's going to be ridden (slowly) by a beardy hipster type on his way to buy a skinny latte. I'm sure they'd be nice to ride, as all the mechanical bits are of good quality, but it's just trying so hard to be cool.

Yonks ago in Performance Bikes (guessing at about 1990) there was a thing about excuses to use when caught by the police.
One of the wheelie ones was.

As a person who has a 3.9 gallon Clarke desert tank (amongst other tanks) for my KX 500 and not entirely innocent in the Fuck Ugly Tank scales I still think that tanks a bloody odd shape.

Make a great town bike but I wanted something a bit more all rounder and it wasn't a Honda

I looked at the black and white 701 Huskies before going for the Duke 690, but it was all too much form over function. If they'd toned it down a bit while keeping the quality cycle parts I might have been tempted, but even on the standard models it was all a bit too hipster-ish for me.

But if I didn't need pillion accomodation (and I'm regularly informed that I do), I'd have bought a Husky 701SM in a heartbeat.
