Didn't those suzuki engines spray the underside of the piston with oil to cool it, or something specific?
AKA SACS (Suzuki Advanced Cooling System), so pretty much most of the late 80s Suzukis including the big singles ( DR Big etc)

Yes they do, but so do 20 Valve Yamaha engines from 1987 onwards.

Aye and the Yams did get the Oil Burner title as well.

Yes, the 4 20 valve Yams I've owned have all used oil, the two 16 valve Yams I've owned didn't use any oil, and they have the same oil spray jets in the con rods.

Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:39 pm Without going into mega detail there are the following oil cooled Suzuki engines that I can remember

600 used in Bandits and Teapots
Long stroke GSXR750 (there are 4 versions of this)
Short stroke GSXR750
Short stroke GSX750 used in Bandits, Inazumas and Teapots
Slabby 1074
Slingshot 1127 (at least 2 versions)
GSX1100F tourer has a unique engine
GSX1100G shafty
Bandit 1200 used in Bandits, Inazumas and the GS1200SS

GSXR engines have straight cut primary gears and roller cam chains, Bandits have helical primaries and hyvo cam chains.

Bimota SB6 and 7 have water cooled GSXR engines, and you have to take the engine out to change the gearbox sprocket.

Slabby 11 is 1052cc

Yep, they run a ridiculous oil pressure, when cold the oil pressure is something like 90psi, there are loads of wee jets and oilways.

Unlike say a GSX1100 EFE, the oil is the primary cooling element, hence the oil coolers are radiator sized.
