Replica vs Manufacturer battery packs?

Over the years, I’ve upgraded from NiCad batteries to Li-Ion (mainly by upgrading / adding to the tools) but this has left me with a load of dead NiCad packs and some low capacity Li-Ion packs which I’m looking to add to for the beefier tools (SDS, saws etc).

What are the replica batteries like in comparison to OEM other than being half the cost? I’m not a tradesman so don’t need to rely on them day in day out, but don’t want to be wasting my cash?

Are there any recommendations on supplier for Ryobi One + batteries in particular.

Rechargable batteries are something I'm cautious with due to the proliferation of terrible ones and consequences if they catch fire.
I'd be prepared to build my own pack if I found a good supplier but packs should be well matched so I'd replace whole sets rather than just dud cells.
The main problem I have with doing that is manufacturers seem to make them as difficult as possible to do. I have a pricey battery lawn mower which is almost useless now as new batteries are over £100 each and the packs themselves are pretty much impossible to swap cells out.

I've used an aftermarket "Forrat" brand 18V battery in my Makita drill and impact driver for the last 2 years, it's performed as well as the OEM one and seems well made.

I've sometimes had cheapo battery packs for cordless tools.
They've not given as much power and generally not lasted as long.

I don't bother anymore and Im a bit more concerned about the quality of them.

I am a tradesman and don't fancy setting things on fire with them in the charger.
Other peoples mileage may vary.
