Just something to be aware of if you've got your ebikes on house insurance cover. Check they're actually covered.

Hmm, I'm not sure how they could get away with that for the 250w pedal assist models, unless you look at the Sur Ron 3Kw things in which case I absolutely understand where they're coming from. they are actually electric motorcycles.

We found that most insurers have an upper limit of £5k which just doesn't do the job. Our home insurer wanted to know every thing about mine including make, exact model, rrp and any extras added, they might even have wanted the serial number, I can't quite remember for sure, but in the case of a claim they have all of the information up front to make their decision on whether to insure or not.

I've got a letter from Direct Line saying my eBike is covered by my house insurance, they'd have a job not to when it's a named item nd I pay extra for it.

I think that's the key thing - having the bike as a named item.

I can see how you could run into problems by just assuming that the bike is covered just because it's value is below the insurers max value, which seems to be £5k with lots of companies.
