Clearly a bunch of people on Clapham Common weren't.
Gotta feel sorry for the Met, damned if they arrest, damned if they don't. Personally, I think they made the right call. The law is quite clear on public gatherings.

Those people were there to cause trouble and didn't care about anyone else, they are probably more likely to die of covid than at the hands of a stranger on the street.

Facking do-gooders ignoring the law. They deserved a good shoeing.

Add a bottle of Dettol into the tank and you've got crowd control and disinfection in one easy application.

There were three, they were sold for scrap.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-london-46258584
Three water cannon bought and refurbished for more than £320,000 while Boris Johnson was London Mayor have been sold for £11,000.
The vehicles were bought by Mr Johnson as crowd-control weapons following the 2011 riots.
They were sold for £11,025 to Nottinghamshire-based Reclamations (Ollerton) Ltd who will dismantle them and export the parts.

As the # of vaccinated rises, presumably the most vulnerable we've all been trying to protect, they're now protected - I think this sort of thing is more likely.
My youngest is at uni in Bristol and they're having house parties again - they've all had covid, the majority of their olds have had the vaccine. I was parentally disapproving but you can see why.

Men are, so I believe, around five times more likely to be murdered in a violent attack, so making the streets safer, if that's what this week's social media campaign says is what's needed, needs to focus on both genders*.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 7:11 am These women are saying they don't feel safe on our streets, does anyone.
That said, the Gremlinette is 16. She still wears a a school uniform but tells me that she gets comments of a sexual nature shouted to her on the way to and from school from time to time. That sort of behaviour is simply not acceptable under any circumstances. To her credit, she once told me that she once gave the offender the bird and replied, 'Fuck off, you nonce!' Fair play!
*Don't even go there with the gender identification issue either.

My missus had a rant about previous workplaces with lots of rough men making her feel uncomfortable, she wouldn't believe me when I said I'd worked in places full of rough women who were just as badly behaved.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
I have a colleague who is, shall we say, slightly disturbing in his views on this subject. Comments such as 'I'd smash its back doors in' are the norm. He was once talking about employing female members of staff and made a comment about how only 'young birds with big tits' should be employed and that they should be prepared to suffer a little bit of sexual harassment in order to progress at work. I asked him if he felt that would be ok for his daughter when she started work, to which he started huffing about smashing faces if anybody touched her.
It's funny how a lot of blokes forget that every woman is a daughter, wife or mum of somebody.
Anyway. This is too deep. Back to Covid!

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
Absolutely. I worked in a place where some of the women thought nothing of a prolonged tackle grab and an attempt at a tongue down your throat. They took turns to stalk, while the others cheered.
It was quite amusing. When it happened to other blokes who didn't know to be careful.

SO 2 weeks now, well just under techincally. Before freedom is allowed to an extent.
From 29 March:
People will be allowed to meet outside, either with one other household or within the "rule of six", including in private gardens
The stay at home rule will end, but the government will urge people to stay local as much as possible
Outdoor sport facilities will reopen, including golf courses and tennis and basketball courts, and formally organised outdoor sports can restart
Weddings attended by up to six people can take place in any circumstances

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
Well, I broke the rules on Sunday.
Went to see my (93 yr old, housebound) mother, not seen her since mid-July last year.
In mitigation:
- I had a negative LF test the day before
- I wore a mask
- kept distance from her
- went outside when carers arrived
- we've both had first vaccination
Should I go to the cop shop and had myself in?

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
NO, i don't think you should. I think in the past year we've done a lot of learning about what's right and wrong in this world for the virus spread. I don't see that as an issue.Horse wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 7:35 am Well, I broke the rules on Sunday.
