It's not been possible to exchange here for the last 2-3 years. You couldn't change if you had longer than 6 weeks validity on your photocard licence.
My mate in France is caught in the same limbo. He initiated the request 18 m9nths ago, the authorities but it on hold / go slow, now are waiting for the mutual exchange to be agreed.
Pretty sure that if his hasn't been returned to him, they will process it. If you applied before 6th Jan (when they closed applications) then my understanding is that you'll get the French licence. But it does take a bastard long time. If he's not had the application returned then this is a brilliant FB page to help people https://www.facebook.com/groups/206199943590115 (he probably knows about it already, but just in case)

If he's had it returned then yes. We are just sitting waiting for people to negotiate and sodding well sign an agreement

It's bad enough if you just have the fear of having to take a car licence. But being an old fart, I have a lot of extra entitlements cos I is old. And the bike licence too. No way could I afford to take all of them again

The woman that runs the FB page I linked to is confident that it will be signed and sorted. But it's nerve-wracking waiting!!!! :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

Looking at my bank statement this morning I noticed a payment of £5.95 to Vehicleinfo, Windsor. I think I've seen that payment before and thought it was the road tax for my bike but as last month I renewed my taxes and insurances this time I questioned it. A little hunt around the internet and I find out, although it's legal, it's actually very scammish.

I phoned my bank who, as you may already be aware, can't stop a monthly payment from my card. I could see three monthly payments but needed to go though statements to find the rest. I phoned Vehicle Info, who actually answered and said "We're sorry you want to cancel your subscription and we'll refund the three months". They emailed to confirm. I went through my bank statements and the payments go back to August. Emailed them back and asked for the rest.

The services they provide are vehicle history, tax, MOT etc and the reg they had on file for me was my Street Triple which I bought new. I asked them why I would need the history for a vehicle that I've been the only keeper of

I have no idea how this happened and my anger is mostly due to the fact that I thought I was internet payment savvy and obviously I'm not.

Check your statements for vehicleinfo, Windsor. It would seem that most people pay what they think is a 50p payment to check their tax but then pay £5.95 until they challenge it. Having said that, I don't remember paying 50p for anything.
Why would anyone pay to check tax or MOT status? It's free on the gov website and is where they would look.

Noggin. This is for you.

I don’t know how your medical records work where you are but in the U.K. each surgery has patient records which the patient can read. If the patient doesn’t understand the medical terminology such as HDL/LDL Cholesterol among many other things it redirects them to a Lab to give an explanation in lay terms of all types of blood tests.

I’ve just tested it without using a direct link and it works. Give it a try. Also available in French and other languages.

https://labtestsonline.org.uk/search?ke ... holesterol+

See other information on the site by clicking top left. A non commercial site that is approved and peer reviewed. Better than the crap on Google.

Some people - like myself - have an over active liver that over produces the bad cholesterol. As such I avoid all high cholesterol foods such as eggs, cheese, red meat etc. I replace them with milled linseed, walnuts, almonds, porridge, omega 3 fish and whatever else that is low in bad fats and keeps my cholesterol in balance.

Trinity, I agree with Yambo et al., it is a scam. I’m surprised that Trading Standards haven’t taken action against them and least of all the search engines for allowing such practices.

Always best to go on to: https://www.gov.uk/. for absolutely everything to do with the government.

Have you actually contacted a car hire firm, because it sounds like you're worrying about something you don't even know to be true !?

You could try getting a speeding fine? then they're obliged to swap your licence so as to apply the points.

I just ignore most of the rules over here, that's what the French do. ;)

I have seriously considered it! The ones I've had have only been a few kms over the limit so no need to change the licence!! Maybe I should have tried harder!!

Luckily, the hire car is ok - uk licences are valid until the end of the year :banana-dance:

I'll be screwed for work if this isn't sorted out before November :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

I did - after I read on their website that non EU licences would need an international permit. Then, whilst waiting for the reply, I found a government page that confirmed that my licence is valid until the end of the year

TBF, it only relieves the worry for right now. If this isn't sorted by November it will royally screw me for work! I'm sure it will be sorted but there is the worry that we are waiting on bureaucrats and politicians to sort this out . . . . . . . . .

I’ve been looking on Gumtree for a cheapish hybrid bike.

Found a good Trek 7.5 FX sport. So I messaged the guy a few minutes after it went up hoping it would be first come first served.

Didn’t hear a dicky bird from him but got a call a week later. He’d had a load of response and the bike was gone but he could sell me another one. Not as good so told him I wasn’t interested.

So yesterday I gets a message that his Giant Escape 2 is for sale. It’s not a great bike but it was cheap so he sent pics on WhatsApp. I said I’d take it so he said he’d give me a call in 5 minutes.

That’s the last I heard from him. I’m assuming he was messaging several folk at once :angry-cussingblack:

So the numbers blocked. F**k him.

I'm going to use that next time I need to explain CAGR to a board that wonder why a company isn't growing by this imaginary number.
Wouldn't you be better using a cartoon about interpolation?

There are two types of people in the world, those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

Just in case there's still someone who's not heard it.

Mark Twain had something to say about extrapolation: https://mrkwr.wordpress.com/2006/11/08/ ... apolation/

His conclusion: "There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.”

Extrapolation means to extend beyond the "end" of your current data. Interpolation is finding a point thats within the bounds of what you already have.

I still feel the slowsider is making some joke about marriage in there l, but I can't see it :D Sorry SS, too subtle if it is a joke
