MTB with Road Tyres
Hi
my 15yo is doing a cross Pennine ride for adventure scouts later this year.
He currently has a Giant something or other 27.5 MTB
He'll find it hell on MTB tyres- and i'm loathed to buy a new road bike for him for just this.
So, can you just swap out MTB tyres for road tyres? I can just rock up to Halfords and do this?

Re: MTB with Road Tyres
Yes - just change then over for hybrid / road tyres - shame it’s not a 26er as I have some slicks ...

Re: MTB with Road Tyres
I'm in the north (Barnoldswick) and as a former VS myself would be happy to loan him my road bike. Would fit 5'5" - 5'9" I reckon. It's got nice low touring gears and full guards on. Got a bar bag, frame bag and seat pack that fit too.
It's not getting used at the minute so could be without for a few weeks if he needs to try it out.
Can be spds or flats.

Christ - what do you feed them on ?
No problem - what the boy needs is a 12ft field gate with a wheel at each end if he's that tall !

Probably something I'll change on MTB too, I only really ride it to work at the moment.
