Tyre Question - what does "A" stand for

Post by Trinity765 »

I need a new rear Angle GT2

Pirelli Angel GT II 180/55ZR17 (73 W) Rear TL M/C £141

https://www.oponeo.co.uk/motorcycle-tyr ... #334910883

Pirelli Angel GT II 180/55ZR17 (73 W) Rear TL M/C A £147

https://www.oponeo.co.uk/motorcycle-tyr ... #334910884

What would I be paying £6 for?

My guess is that it's a bike make/model specific fitment.

Email pirelli and ask them which is their recommended tyre for your bike.

I agree with Taff. Quite possibly has a higher load rating than the standard tyre for use on a specific bike.

“Arriere” is French for rear, as every schoolboy knows.

But don’t forget “avant” is French for front.

Yep that would be my guess too...my car has tyres suffixed with a letter to indicate they're supposedly manufacturer specific. What difference it actually makes i dunno. I don't even know if it the correct manufacturer for my car :D

I stopped at the place where I normally get my tyres fitted and there's £10 in it - taking the wheel off, buying the tyre and getting them to change it vs them supplying and fitting it. So for £10 it's theirs. However, now I'm wondering if they'll get the one with the A or not - not that I care.
