The ‘Humbie Heinkel’ lies on a Scottish hillside surrounded by onlookers, the first German aircraft to be shot down on British Soil.

If I didn't know better I would have guessed that was the early days of Ryanair at Stansted, complete with the obligatory mad rush to get seats next to one another.

With the exception of the puddle jumpers used up here all the planes I've flown on have had seats next to each other.

If the any of the crew survived do you think they they would've got a bit of a kicking.
The link says two dead, one wounded, one uninjured.
As for a kicking, only if they were Hibs fans ;)

Probably not if they told the crowd they'd dropped their bombs on the English.

Don't worry. I'll look at it, then close my eyes for three seconds, then reopen them.

When you do, take the photo in the last hours of daylight (or first hours of day) as the light will be much warmer and the shadows longer giving more contrast to the land etc.

Can you work out, from the shadows on the ground, whereabouts the sun was?

As Tp says, if the sun is higher you won't get the same effect.

It looks misty in the far valleys, do you tend to get that in the mornings?

Hasn't that got a name like "the photographers magic hour" or something?

Edit of the Edit: I was half right the first time, Golden Hour = After sunrise, Magic Hour = just before sunset

Yes, exceptions to all rules not withstanding, but if you think of any notable views/vistas, you'll often find photographers queuing and jostling for the best positions before dawn breaks or as the sun starts to drop. People often think bright sunshine is great for photography, but generally speaking it isn't, it can be an exposure nightmare as you'll often get flare (no data) etc. Its why Bride, Groom and families love sunny wedding days, but wedding photographers don't! They often prefer the sun behind cloud to get a nice even diffused light, etc blah. A lot of pro photographers know a fair bit about meteorology and use it for good effect...

Yep. Golden Hour, or as I know it, the hour when your teenage daughter disappears on holiday to take a few thousand selfies to post on social media, complete with mandatory 'Insta-pout'.
