Supreme court rules Shamima Begum cannot return to the UK..
Excellent news for once!
She's a traitor to the UK.
The vile bitch could have had babies in the safe and civilised UK, instead she chose to go to a filthy primitive islamic hellhole to have babies...all 3 died.
That's at least 3 deaths she has caused, before even looking at what else she got up to whilst she was enforcing sharia law over there.

Re: Supreme court rules Shamima Begum cannot return to the UK..
She was led astray and made one huge mistake after being goaded by others. It is a very sad state of affairs. She was only a child.
I am glad she is not allowed back into the UK to become a poster girl for extremists and her story is a very clear message to any other fundamental idiots. I bear her no ill will as an individual but as a country, we cannot have our citizens changing sides willy nilly and still expect to be welcomed back with open arms.
At least her story shows the difference between our largely Christian society and the grim reality of "paradise" in others.

She is Bangla! She is Bangla!
That said, it's a shame and a sad indictment of the current fear-zone zeitgeist that we aren't accommodating a child who was groomed.

When a 'child' is old enough to leave home, go abroad, cross other frontiers illegally, marry and bear 2 or 3 children, they can be considered adult.
An adult who willingly joins up to help an enemy is a traitor. We used to hang traitors.
Perhaps we should let her come back and hang her.

She is a Bangladeshi citizen.
The Bangladeshi age of majority is 18.
The UK age of of majority is 18.
She decided she wanted to come to the UK in 2019.
You do the arithmetic.

Re: Supreme court rules Shamima Begum cannot return to the UK..
I think we might as well agree to differ on this one, to me she was groomed as a kid and I doubt the educational facilities over there were exactly on par with those outside a war zone. So not much possibility for her advancing herself over there is there. Kids do stuff wrong, they sometimes need a bit of help. You only have to read through the problems the adults on here have to see that and damn nearly all of us are over 30 and your what, in your 70s?
I feel the UK is ignoring its responsibility by not trying to rehabilitate people who fall through the cracks.
To my eyes its weak to sidestep our responsibility, you may feel different.

At a pure guess at least a billion people in the world outside the UK have "fallen through the cracks".demographic wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:37 pm I think we might as well agree to differ on this one, to me she was groomed as a kid and I doubt the educational facilities over there were exactly on par with those outside a war zone. We used to support slavery, deny women the vote and criminalise homosexuality. It's a good thing we've progressed from those things.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 9:45 pm#Asian Boss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 9:29 pm That said, it's a shame and a sad indictment of the current fear-zone zeitgeist that we aren't accommodating a child who was groomed.

I suspect the current decision is an attempted vote winning appeasement strategy from a dirty government clinging to their waning dirty, fear-zone supporters.

Change IS coming, the question is "Which change?"Asian Boss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:43 pm The change is coming. The older order changeth, yielding place to new. And god fulfils himself in many ways.
To an enlightened and 'free' society, where anyone can think or say almost anything, but there are rules and consequences about actions
Or to a medieval theocracy, where no dissent is tolerated.
If we want the first one we may have to come down hard on the few who would like to impose the latter. Taking away the 'right' of this person to choose UK over her birth country seems to me to be reasonable. A whole court load of judges decided it was legal.

Change is here.
Between 1936 and 1939 lots of British people ran off to join sides in the Spanish civil war. Even though the war was nothing to do with them really, they didn't lose their citizenship but came home again and got on with WW2. I don't know how many were 15 year old girls, mind.
Attitudes in society have certainly changed.
Mine hasn't, and reflects the current one. Wtf would you want to run off from a decent life and join in somebody else's war? And if it means that much to you why would you want to come home again afterwards? If your side won you'd be well away. If your side lost you should suck it up and stay there to carry on the struggle for what you think is right.
She should stay where she is and use that youthful energy to make her new home/refugee camp/the Middle East a better place. It's what she wanted to do. She should get on with her childhood dreams.
Her god will no doubt support her.

If they let her back in, she can never be really trusted. She'll be a liability all her life.
They can't ever get rid of her.

Re: Supreme court rules Shamima Begum cannot return to the UK..
That's the crux of it I think. In the strictest terms you could say she's a traitor. I suspect she's actually just an idiot. A 15 year old idiot is a double idiot I suppose?
She's not gonna make much difference to the UK one way or another in reality, she's one girl/woman. But this whole thing does set dangerous precidents IMO with regards to rendering people stateless etc.
No-one comes out of this looking good really.

She's not going to go hula-wula-bang, all she'll do is feature in loads of articles which will get the Daily Mail readers incandescent with rage. Imagine if she came back and then lived on benefits. They'd be the ones that'd explode then - from their own fury.

Not rich people. A good proportion of the current electorate.Potter wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 1:57 amI don't think the UK supports any of those things and I think that's rather the point, she does and they don't want her back.Asian Boss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:43 pm

Is there a challenge of law in there? In Hesham Ali v Secretary of State (2016), Lord Wilson said that public concern can assist a court’s objective analysis of where the public interest lies (I've paraphrased because I cba to look it up) - is that what you're getting at?Asian Boss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:43 pm

I think you need to add a bit of meat to the bone though, Lord Reed and his forty years of expertise in law (and PhD, QC, etc) currently trumps your "rich people are nasty and mean" argument.

Yes maybe we should want to stop young and none too bright people from being indoctrinated then sent abroad to fight in other peoples wars.
Pretty sure people can work out where I'm going with this.

Much as I'd like to see her back in the UK and living at the tax payers'expense, I suspect she would make a good living here if she got a half decent agent to manage her PR. Perhaps that would be even better than her living off benefits; living well and expressing her opinions regularly via the media.Potter wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 9:58 amI don't think you need much of an imagination there
It would be funny though, just to see the frothing from the "I'd be doing alright if it wasn't for....******" crowd.

Re: Supreme court rules Shamima Begum cannot return to the UK..
I suspect she was actually groomed by an Islamic fundamentalist or two who were still convinced there were 70 virgins waiting for them in the afterlife but were not convinced enough to strap a semtex vest on or go and fight themselves. They were pimps for the Islamic fundamentalists that know full well that making war on people and carrying out atrocities makes the average Muslim activist horny as fuck.Potter wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 9:05 am
She was groomed by UK left wing moaning, woe-is-me the rich people are all corrupt and the government are all nasty, the sort of silly shit these halfwits spout just before they topple statues and go looting, she was after a perfect life provided by a socialist government and her beautifully poetic masterplan was to join an ultra right wing death squad - I think a bunch of Germans fell for a similar story in the 1930's.
She was probably groomed by a roll-up smoking ex-miner who's been on benefits for twenty years and is still moaning about Thatcher.
Of course, one of them may well have been a miner prior to being radicalised himself but I doubt it.
