Nearly eight grand for a dose of rust now?

Prices are kerazee. I got £750 for my Z1A in 1980 and counted myself lucky enough.

Sadly, that Z1 might be worth buying, restoration won't be cheap, but it would get £20K restored, you'd need to be quick doing it though, because they're can't be that many fools left willing to pay stupid money for them.

What you you reckon the restoration would cost?

It must be very easy to throw 10-12k at that,if it's being done right. Takes the cost petty close to doing it for very little even if it fetches 20k.

The Katana is a 400, should sound like a GSXR400
:D
Der yeah, I know it is, and no it shouldn't, unless of course you put the wrapped 4 into 2 system and funny reverse cone megas on the gixxer - the fact is it didn't sound like a GSXR400, which, as I said above, is the only reason it got a mention ...

Didn't know whether you'd spotted it was a 400, and I meant normally they sound like GSXR400s

TBH it's very hard to say what it would cost to restore, you're going to want to rebuild the engine, that's £600 in labour if you don't want to do it yourself (they're actually easier than most two strokes) minimum parts cost is going to be £100 for consumables, but add another £800 for a rebore and pistons, same again if it needs a crank rebuild.

Cycle parts cost will depend on how original you want it, for £20K it has to be rebuilt with genuine Kawasaki parts (the nerds know the difference) and some of those cost a fortune because you can't get them from Kawasaki, the bits you can get are reasonable.

At least you've got a complete bike to start with, and it looks like the really tricky bits to find are all there.

I still love this bike. Museum in Beaunne with GP a couple of years back with his boys and my lad... was a lovely lovely day out, but this bike in particular stands out time and time again to me.

Cosworth Twin.
Company I used to work for was part of the same group as Cosworth. One of the directors was being shown around, saw the engine casings on a shelf, asked what they were, then could he have them?

Basically was told "Yes, but don't come back for help"

He had a frame built, EFI designed, brought over Gary Flood (I think) over from Oz to work on it - even built an extension on his house for a workshop.

But end result was, amongst others, winning Daytona BOTT.

No idea where it is now.
Gary Flood, in the workshop.
