Finally some good news for EU citizens.

https://www.thejournal.ie/astrazeneca-o ... 5-Mar2021/
Germany and France to give AstraZeneca vaccine to over 65s, Belgium approves it for over 55s

A NUMBER OF European countries have this week decided to begin using the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine for older people.

Belgium has said it will administer the vaccine to those over the age of 55, while France and Germany will allow it to be given to those over 65.
...
Merkel said the government had agreed to space out the first and second jabs of the AstraZeneca shot by a maximum of 12 weeks, to quickly give more people initial protection against the virus.
Looking like a race between the "third wave" and vaccinations.

Just read that a neighbouring resort is starting. So I'm hoping my resort will be soon!! They haven't specified which vaccine but I'll just take whatever I can get!!

Only time I'm glad to be overweight as I don't fit any other underlying issue, so might be able to persuade the Doc to do mine cos of that!! And maybe the possibility of the shoulder infection. Although that last is a bit tenuous I think!! LOL
The vaccination campaign has started in Val d'Isère for people aged 50 to 64 with the risk factors below.

Cardiovascular history: complicated high blood pressure, stroke or coronary heart disease, cardiac surgery, NYHA stage III or IV heart failure.
Diabetes not balanced or presenting with complications.
Chronic respiratory pathology liable to decompensate during a viral infection.
Obesity (body mass index> 30 kgm2).
Drug-induced immunosuppression: immunosuppressive treatment, biotherapy and / or corticosteroid therapy at an immunosuppressive dose.
Child-Pugh score at least stage B cirrhosis.
Major sickle cell syndrome or with a history of splenectomy.
Motor neuron, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, cerebral palsy, quadriplegia or hemiplegia, primary cerebral malignancy, progressive cerebellar disease or rare disease.

So .... if anyone is interested, Nogs maybe?

You CAN get the AZ vaccine in France - but only currently from your GP. The vaccine centres are only administering Pfizer - no idea why - but they did seem to think (biddy on reception) that that might change 'in the coming weeks'.

Anyway - screw them, I'm getting my AZ a week on Saturday. :)

It's useful to have first-hand experience rather than quotes from your media of choice. I'm not over 65 anyway - thankyou very much!

I probably should have just PMd Nogs directly ffs

The point is that releasing the AZ vaccine for use in all cohorts should now make it generally widely available.

Sorry to have bothered you.

Good to know. Hopefully my GP will have it in stock or will be getting it! :banana-dance:

I'm not overly fussed which I get but have read good things about the AZ one so that would be my preference if offered a choice. If not, I'll take what I can get!!

Right - must go to doctor tomorrow and ask!! (have other things to ask, keep putting off a visit!! LOL)

That's how I felt. I asked which one I got (it was on the card anyway) but I didn't really mind either way. I think in the UK now most people are getting the AZ as there's more of it.

As far as I know the vaccine centres will be at least 45 minutes to an hour from me (unless they have a mobile one, unlikely!) so I'm hoping the GP gets the AZ. Saves travelling for it and means I might get it sooner!! LOL :D :D

I'm not sure if I can get it. I'm not in the Spanish health system or covered by the NHS.

Worth asking. Pretty sure that here they will vaccinate if you are in the process of getting into the system. I've also been told that you can get it if outside the system.

I'd guess that they'd prefer everyone to have the vaccine, system or no system?

Good grief, the vaccine wars commence! :wtf:

Italy and EU block Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine shipment to Australia as shortages row escalates

Italy made the request and it was signed off by the European Commission under a new export control system that came into law on 30 January. This is the first time it has been used by a member state.

It is understood the doses will now be redistributed within the EU, where about 8% of the population has been vaccinated, compared with more than 30% in the UK.

War? The Aussie's appear to be quite understanding of the situation, given that they recently received a batch of 300,000 and have only had 3 Covid deaths since the start of November. Sorry to disappoint you

From the beeb
Australia said it had already received a shipment of 300,000 doses and planned to begin local production next month.
"Domestic production starts with 1 million [doses] per week of deliveries from late March and is on track," said Health Minister Greg Hunt.
"This [Italy] shipment was not factored into our distribution plan for coming weeks."

I stand to be corrected, but I believe that the vaccine the EU/Italy blocked from export to Australia was manufactured in the Halix plant in the Netherlands, which had then not been licenced to produce vaccines for use in the EU!

You couldn't make it up.

Nothing is licenced until the point at which it is. Wasn't the UK producing millions of doses prior to permission to use them?

Yes, hardly a war but it's a good indication of how quickly allies will drop you in it and this isn't even that critical.
I have no idea of the details, this could be completely different to the UK issue.

Cyprus has become the latest country to suggest it will open its borders to people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, saying that Britons that have had two doses will be able to travel there from May without needing a negative test or to quarantine.

It's prompted more debate on whether "vaccine passports" could become a feature of foreign travel.

In the UK it has been suggested that people could use the existing NHS app to prove their vaccination status or a recent negative test and Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said Britons will be able to demonstrate whether they have had the jab if required by other countries.

Other countries and travel companies have also said they may require proof of vaccination for tourists:

Greece will admit Covid-negative Israeli tourists this summer who can prove their status with Israel's "green" digital vaccine certificate
Denmark and Sweden are developing vaccine passports in time for the summer
Saga, which specialises in holidays for the over-50s, says passengers on its 2021 holidays or cruises must be fully vaccinated
Australian airline Qantas says travellers will eventually need to prove they have had a vaccination to board its flights
You can read more about vaccine passports here.

If by XV550 you mean SXV550's then I have 3 of them in the garage, two for road/trail use and a third race bike in bits.

Petronas Yamaha M1 is same as last year.

RS660 engine is interesting.

But Aluula is more so.
