cycle helmet MIPS or non MIPS

following on from my off the other day my current lid is dead, it nutted the floor so I guess a replacement is needed.

Now ive been looking at either a Met Rivale lid and the Giro Syntax, both do a MIPS and non MIPS flavour, the MIPS version in both is pretty much sold out everywhere (more so in the giro) in my size M.

I think I know the answer but IS MIPS good, not really read up on it.

TBH i can't really recall. I just put them on and thought "nah" and sent them back. It may not have been because of the MIPS, may have just been a bad/wrong fit generally.

I just replaced mine and my kids' as they were all getting old. I got MIPS for all of us. The ones I got seem fine.

both my current road and MTB lids have it, but is it worth it??? you would get a lid with out it???

I have both - I have crashed and broken 2 non MIPS lids . They worked and I was okay.
I get the feeling if MIPS is going to make the difference, then your life is going to be changed forever anyway.

I wouldn’t worry to much. Most helmets are better than none.

Switched both road and MTB helmets to MIPS a while ago. I was running Giro helmets anyway and the Giro MIPS fitted just as well as the non. The logic behind it is sound (in my mind) and therefore I'm happy to run it and hope that I never find out - because I do agree somewhat with Moofo's assumptions!

its £30 difference between the same model one with and the cheaper with out, (and I don't want to here what's your head worth), ive head butted the floor in a £400 shoe NXR and a £700 Shoei x-sprit 3 and got away with it (touchwood)

It's not mandatory to crash every ride!
