Now collected, Taped, mudguard, cleaned, pads, levers done, suspension set, dropper pressure set and tested in the close. Boy loves it.

Yesterday when i said it MAY get expensive.

I'd stuck the Liv up for £550 on STW forum and he gave me £500 in P/X on the new Specialized, so was an absolute non-discussion there. The Specialized is in exceptional condition i have to say and even with me riding it, it rides LOVELY !

It having the SRAM Guides (Same as mine) along with same axles, same wheels/tyre sizes and even the same 11 speed groupset, means any issues or changes that are required can be done easily and without issue. So it was swapped over and is now ready for BPW on the 21st. Sadly as he's going away for half term, i can't see it being done before then.

My boy wants to do his bit to help the NHS, so next weekend is doing a 50 mile Zwift ride! There may be a couple of short breaks but will be 1 sitting on Watopia layout.

In preparation for this weekends event i set up the neighbours road bike on the turbo, but whilst it makes power well, i absolutely hate the riding position.

So i thought "I have Trickys Bossnut"... which has a compatible QR skewer on the back end.

Dragged it out, "Damn that's tough to roll".. The bottom bracket was basically siezed.

I then had to remove the cassette from his wheel and fit it to my 10 speed (his is 11) but no major issue there... It was then chucked on the turbo for testing and is ready for Sunday. Not sure yet whether i'll be the one on the bossnut or my lad, but one of us will depending on who fits which the best.

Had a blast at the weekend doing jumps, the boy has balls of steel, just eyes it up then boom! Goes for it.



So today I was out riding at 6:15am and then after a long bath I got bored, so stripped his suspension linkages down to check bearings, clean them up and bit of grease, all smooth. Did the headset after that and final job was fitting a new saddle. Not sure if it's saddle or seat post that's a bit creaky. But we'll soon find out.

Have a think about servicing the forks. I've not been overly impressed with the revelations, they don't react fast enough with multiple hits almost to the point it feels like having rigid forks. Gave them a lower leg service yesterday and replaced the damper oil with 2.5w instead of 5w and they're a lot better. To the point I won't be dropping £500+ on a set of pike ultimates which was the next step if they didn't improve.

Interesting. I get very little in the way of feedback from him, but he certainly seems happy. Don't forget, he's only 40kg so I'm not sure they'll work at that weight particularly well anyhow. But he's never complained.
Even this bike though I see as a stop gap as he's still growing, so even by next summer for example we may have a new toy.

As things stand we both just want more time at Swinley/BPW etc so we can get better. There'll be a small discussion coming up for next Aug that you may be interested in, I'll put it up. But may depend on your racing/trackday plans.
