Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
Minor CV19 discussion here... I was due to have a hospital procedure today... So went for a CV19 test on Tues for admission. Yesterday i get a phone call, well, 3 calls actually. They've lost my CV19 test/results so the procedure has been postponed.... Irritating !

Merkel is 66 and the Vaccine isn't approved for over 65s in Germany...so she couldn't take it if she wanted to. Not unless you want her to override the health approver's rules for her own benefit that is.
TBH I'm not clear on whether its "not allowed" or "not recommend" for over 65s in Germany but the point remains.

In spite of the European Medicines Agency approving the vaccine on 29th January 2021.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 8:48 am Merkel is 66 and the Vaccine isn't approved for over 65s in Germany...so she couldn't take it if she wanted to. Keep digging Angela (graves for your own citizens).EMA has recommended granting a conditional marketing authorisation for COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in people from 18 years of age. This is the third COVID-19 vaccine that EMA has recommended for authorisation.
EMA’s human medicines committee (CHMP) has thoroughly assessed the data on the quality, safety and efficacy of the vaccine and recommended by consensus a formal conditional marketing authorisation be granted by the European Commission. This will assure EU citizens that the vaccine meets EU standards and puts in place the safeguards, controls and obligations to underpin EU-wide vaccination campaigns.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
This whole AZ thing is a right old mess isn't it.
Do we have any definite results yet on how AZ is doing at protecting oldies? The results published the other day were for the Pfizer only weren't they? The UK and EMA have approved it, are they taking a gamble? I assume that gamble is that it might not be as effective as hoped and so you end up with people in at risk groups semi vaccinated?
If the European countries are wrong on this then surely that's a bigger gamble? Potentially millions of people won't be vaccinated with working vaccines just sitting there. Seems a bit nuts.
If we are wrong I guess some deaths and extended time frame to vaccinate everyone as we'll need to re-do with Pfizer. Probably not a huge amount of fallout.
If Germany/France etc are wrong their politicians are surely due a shit storm for actively blocking working vaccines. That sounds very high risk.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
In the last week I admit my 2 kids 7 and 8 have run around with other kids in the park a couple of times. In the last few weeks the effect of the lock down on them has really been felt. I'm suffering from lack of human contact but nothing like they are. Kids don't communicate like we do, Zoom etc doesn't do it, they want to run around and play. So I made the decision it was worth the risk for their mental health.
Must admit though that decision was made easier by the fact that in just over a week they'll mix with 60 odd kids a day in an indoor environment. Having said that from the sounds of the evidence people going to the park this weekend is probably pretty low risk in terms of transmission. Or lets hope so!

My lad has a core 4 mates he MTBs with. We don't restrict him from riding with them, but we do ask them to try their best.

Baby D (3) has been going to Nursery all through this and they've shut a couple of times for positive staff to self isolate.
I am sure she is not even vaguely social distancing. She's 3!
She's not had even the merest sign of illness at any stage and we've not got it off her, despite some of the school staff testing positive. Maybe little kids really are bulletproof.

Which bit is an opinion? Merkel is 66 and 'the man' in Germany is saying only those under 65 should get jabbed. So if she were to get jabbed she'd be going against her own government's advice. It doesn't matter if that advice is just advice, or the law or anything else. German authorities have said "no over 65s!" and she's 66, so.........OBO wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:50 pmYou've got a habit of posting your opinions on subjects you clearly know sod all about..Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 8:48 am Merkel is 66 and the Vaccine isn't approved for over 65s in Germany...so she couldn't take it if she wanted to. Well damn! Who'd a thunk it!!
French holidays started (not here yet) and half of the cities on holiday have come here on hols. Who'da thought we'd get new (to the area) variants??

The national education system informed us of the closure of two classes in the municipality:
- one class in La Côte d'Aime following a contact case
- a class at Macot La Plagne following a positive case
The closure of these classes was decided due to the detection of South African or Brazilian variants.
The national education system is taking more drastic measures than for a classic Covid because these two variants spread rapidly and are therefore highly contagious.
The commune of La Plagne Tarentaise informs you that only PCR tests are effective in detecting these two variants and can be carried out in the laboratories of Moutiers or Bourg Saint Maurice.
Other slots for screening with PCR tests have been opened from 27th February at the Salle des Fêtes in Aime, primarily for people affected by these class closures.

Where are France’s Covid variant hotspots?
The UK variant has spread throughout all the regions of France while the South African and Brazillian variants are concentrated in the east of the country
By Joanna York
Covid variants are spreading in France, with the UK variant currently accounting for 36% of positive cases and the South African and Brazilian variants accounting for 5%, Health Minister Olivier Véran said in a press conference on February 18.
Percentages show suspected cases
Health body Santé publique France (SPF) has said that these percentages do not mean that 41% of all Covid cases in France are now variants.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
Sounds like Ms. Merkel is just being stereotypically German and straightforward to me? She says the vaccine is safe but she personally is not in the recommended group.
Not sure how that makes her spineless Harry? She's doing exactly what she is also telling the proles to do? If she did the opposite she'd be accused of "one rule for them" instead?
As to why its not recommended for over 65s in Germany...I'm sure we all have our theories for that

“AstraZeneca is a reliable vaccine, effective and safe, approved by the European Medicines Agency and recommended in Germany up to the age of 65 years,” said Ms Merkel.
“All the authorities tell us that this vaccine can be trusted. As long as vaccines are as scarce as they are now, you cannot choose what to vaccinate with.”
When asked whether she would accept the UK jab, the German Chancellor added: “I am 66 years old and I do not belong to the recommended group for AstraZeneca”.
