Motogiro d'Italia - One day.... one day.

Was chatting with Couchie yesterday after him seeing the Ducati 350 and loving it. But as some of you will know, this is a long time dream of mine to buy a bike and ride the Motogiro.

MAybe something like this, depending on the class i will enter at the time.

Part of me wants to do it on a Ducati due to having owned nearly a dozen of them over the years, but i have to say i prefer the MV Agusta as a bike to look at.
I don't know about the reality of them at this stage, it's not something i've looked at in depth enough yet...

I started looking at old (70s) MV Agusta bikes last year, with dreams of the Motogiro.

That's as far as I got: looking and dreaming.

Do they accept competitors on non Italian bikes, I saw there was a class for pre 1981 bikes, I'm sure I can scrounge up a GS1000 by 2022.

Turistica class - you can do what you want but aren't 'competing' as such

My understanding is that it isn't a race as such, more a procession. Take as much salt with that as you like.

Well quite, it's a time trial. "It is a regularity race, each participant must pass through the control points within a set time; moreover, at the start, at the finish line and along the route, each participant must face ability trial that are carried out in well-defined areas, bounded and closed to traffic, and are tests that are carried out at very low speed, where the objective is go across a route of some tens of meters using exactly the time that is previously communicated by the timekeepers."

I'm sure there is a skill to it, it's not one that I'm remotely interested in gaining.

I want a reason to loaf about in Italy with like minded fules on bikes.

I've done a regularity race before, for some unknown reason I enjoy them, though a big bike isn't a wise choice, the one I did was very similar to the part 1 motorcycle test, a trials bike is probably the best bike for the test, but would be very useless for the bits in between.
