Me brother gave me a bike about 3 years ago, which I brought over in the LMH. First time out, I bust the front forks. Third time I bust the rear shock. I weigh about 4 stone more than him. I only ride it now to the pub to watch footy.

Buy want to start off road again, so need to sort out the sussers. But know fuck all about cycles

Can this rear shock be fixed ?

Yeah, an RP23 was a decent shock in the 2000s, can easily be rebuilt/repaired at a cost of about £100. Local bike shops are unlikely to be able to do it, they'll need to send it out.

In some ways it would arguably be cheaper to buy a used shock on something like Pinkbike/Ebay but you'll need to research your dimensions a bit. LEngth and stroke and get the same. If you stick with a Fox then the mountings should be swappable between the 2.

This is 190*51 and fits an orange 5 which i'm guessing is the bike in your picture.

You'll ideally want a shock pump, small high pressure pump and pump it roughly to 2psi/kg of bodyweight. So around 180psi for you for example.

I assume the blown fork seals will be fixable by local shop?

And is the Orange 5 a good bike? I love the clever gear change thingies.
My brother was into downhill racing. He gave me this when he bought a better one.

Depends on the issue, a simple seal issue, potentially yes.. but will depend what they have in stock, i've only been to 1 shop on your island Papagayo bikes, which i don't even know if it's there, but he was clued up and knew his stuff.

The Orange 5 depends how you look at it, it was an excellent bike back in the day, like a GSXR1000 K1 of it's day... but time and technology have moved on, but that doesn't make the Orange 5 a bad bike... it just makes it an older bike :)
It's arguably too much travel and too heavy for where you live, but that makes it stable, robust and sturdy....
