Re: I can only imagine........
Why do you think the owl is named after the barn, rather that the barn being named after the owl?

They are also known as screech owls...Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 3:13 pmWhy do you think the owl is named after the barn, rather that the barn being named after the owl?
I used to look after injured owls (and corvids).
A few fascinating facts for the "townies" amongst ya...
An owls eyes are fixed in their heads hence why they can swivel their heads 360 degrees.
The "disc" shape of their face feathers acts like a radar dish collecting sound and they have one ear hole slightly higher than the other, this helps them pinpoint sound.
Unlike most other birds their feathers contain no oils hence their silent flight, unfortunately this means they very quickly become waterlogged and drown if they accidently end up in water.
Fortunately they rarely drink water... ☺

Re: I can only imagine........
That's true of nearly all birds (the eye bit) AFAIK. We know because of science.

Re: I can only imagine........
The collective noun for a bunch or ferrets is a "business".
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Limited movement means they CAN move their bloody eyes, though NOT as much as we can..
Owls eyes cannot move... GOT IT YET?!
I've probably had over 60 birds in my care over the years, I've SEEN them move their eyes, MANY times.
Go troll someone else boy, I posted about owls as I thought some here might be interested, NOT for YOU to try and display your fucking arrogance!

I just thought someone else might also be equally interested to know that most birds can't move their eyes either
