Insurance companies (and brokers) taking the piss.
Just had my renewal notice from Bennetts.
£365-70 for a CB500F down in crime-ridden inner-city Cornwall! Including an arrangement fee of £20! All his after factoring in 9+years no-claim bonus
FFS, last year my VFR was about £150, they stung me £50 to change to the CB500 which I though was a rip-off. Now they are really trying to rape me.
Cheapest quote so far is £117. No less than 26 other quotes all at least £100 cheaper than the renewal, including Bennetts themselves.
Bennetts will not be getting my business any time soon.

Re: Insurance companies (and brokers) taking the piss.
The renewal is always dearer than the online quote. I used to always decline the renewal and take the online quote from the same company as it includes a "new business" discount. Did it with Hastings many times and even they admitted it was a loophole but i could still do it plus it saved me sending any proof of no claims
At the moment both bikes are about 250 quid each but the Ducati worth shit loads has max no claims and insured fully comp for business use as well. The Yamaha is worth fuck all and insured TPFT and business use but with a single years no claims. I need to sort multibike to cover both on the max no claims as should cost less

I think you mean dearer, but I know what you mean.Bigyin wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 4:12 pm The renewal is always cheaper than the online quote. What really pisses me off is that Bennetts have the brass neck to try to charge £20 extra for facilitating the Insurance Company rip-off. I thought the idea of a broker was to help me through the insurance minefield, not to detonate the mines underneath me.

I've been with Carole Nash for years with my ZZR1100 but last year I bought a Triumph Sprint and they were way more expensive than most others.
I even phoned them up but they wouldn't budge.

The whole insurance industry is a travesty of a mockery of a sham, your honor.

Is it cause lots of new riders have CB500s so the risk rating is really high?

It's caused by them tossers buying bikes with brown seats.

Your island must be swarming with them. Do they migrate there for the winter?

Wasn't it just a joke about the high price for insurance over there?

Perhaps, but since I have had a full motorbike licence for over 50 years, and have over 20 years motorcycle insurance without a claim, you might think they would cut me some slackMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 6:22 pm Is it cause lots of new riders have CB500s so the risk rating is really high?

Re: Insurance companies (and brokers) taking the piss.
My work colleague has just sacked off Bennett’s, quote of £160 for a renewal on his Harley, £89 online for Bennett’s and the closest they would go to on the phone was £130!
