Depends on what you like and who's with you.... there's lots of back roads running North-South in West Sussex, they just don't tend to link up with each other, so you're crossing the bigger East-West roads all the time. IIRC one rideout we did around there ended up going through a farmyard.... (quite by chance, I didn't plan that, honest! )Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 11:50 amThe A29, in fast and get you there. Bury Hill is fun. But send me the other roads ( please)Rockburner wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 11:48 amThere's far better roads on that route than the A29.Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 11:05 am
we will get a TRC meet-up organised for after Freedom. I am waiting to see if the Hummingbird Cafe at Shoreham Airport re-opens as it has a good reputation - and was a haunt for the Sussex DOG.
That could then lead to a Rykas / Newland Corner/ A29 over Bury Hill to Bogner (for Weeksy), Hummingbird at Shoreham - and then Birling Gap and Beachy Head.
I realise that is a bit useless if you live in Cleckheaton - but there you go ...
(although I agree that Bury Hill is a fun climb. )

Cassington Bike Night - massive gathering of mostly classic stuff in June - is a couple of miles from my office. I might actually give that a go if it's on this year. I imagine it will be 2022 though.

Do you jump off the bridge?Potter wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 10:37 am Every year when we come back in the summer, me and my lad ride from our house to Devils Bridge, strip off to our underpants and dive into the river. We have a swim until we've had enough, then dry out on the grass and ride home via the pub for a dinner.
We've been doing that for about ten years but last year we couldn't for obvious reasons. I'd be really happy if we could do it again this year, and now he's 17 he'll be on his own bike.

Never went to the Bulldog Bash, but a few of us used to go to Long Marston Ultimate Streetbike in the 80s, which was fun

Get back on the moped based crime. We moped based jewelry shop robbers and general muggers are the forgotten victims of this pandemic. How I long to put on a balaclava and threaten a member of the public with an angle grinder or a hammer.
As for those old style biker rallys, I went to one many years ago and they were all into sodomy and amphetamines. And that was just the women. I guess I could be tempted by the Bmw Garmisch Partenkirchen event which would probably be somewhat more heterosexual.

Ahahaha...! I'd (almost) forgotten about those. I went twice, the same one on two consecutive years. It was driven by the girl I was seeing at the time. It was a few years back now.DefTrap wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 2:28 pmYou must be desperate to get back to those hippy-middle-aged-sextivals you were on about though?Asian Boss wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 2:25 pm

I was still part of their 'secret' Facebook group for a while afterwards. I saw some post about how the POC had informally reserved some seats at breakfast for other POC to use as a 'safe space'. And no-one used them and some non POC sat near and they thought that was some sort of violation and formed a committee, drafted in the queers and I realised it was time for me to leave them to it around then. When it was good, it was good. And by no means middle aged. The full age range was there. Some of them naked, at breakfast.

Go for a local ride with friends. Go to Wales on my own or with a friend or two. Ride up to Woodhall Spa and see my best biking buddies K & M, drink wine and talk about bikes. Anything and everything that fits in around my job and family.

I am surprisingly really taken with the NC700X and fancy a ride out on it on a sunny day.Probably head up to Suffolk or into Kent then do every 3rd left then a right type thing and see where I end up...

Just have a nice long ride out with my brother and nephew to any destination. Do a tour of Scotland and visit some friends.

One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

North coast is ok, east coast is rubbish but the west coast has all the scenery. They're not fast roads though, it will take much longer than you thinkMingtheMerciless wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 11:31 am I’d like to do the NC500 around Scotland (with Mrs M but apparently the dogs have to come with us). That and trips to Rye and the fish shop by the bridge.

Navigational rallies - Welsh, English, Round Britain. Maybe a Scotland trip. Maybe a France trip. Or just riding to Winchester to see my mother.
