I love the idea that they might just say "fuck it" and jab you with any two jabs :D Seems like madness, but if it works it works.

This is also a numbers game as much as anything else. To a certain extent it's important that you vaccinate a lot of people, but the specific individuals don't matter as much. Sure you'd want to bias towards the most vulnerable, but it's more important that you get a lot of needles in a lot of arms. Therefore I can't really get upset if some old people miss out and some young people get it 'early'.

According to one of the talking heads yesterday, it's fairly well proven for other vaccines.

They're vaccinating the oldest, most vulnerable people first. That includes many people with dementia. You can't rely on a dementia sufferer's memory to avoid vaccinating them two or three times. Record keeping is important.

And the NHS isn't doing this out of the goodness of its collective heart. It gets over £2,000 a year for every man woman and child in the country in normal times. Last year it was closer to £3,000 each. It might be free at the point of use but free is one thing it most certainly isn't. For that sort of money, doing a competent job is the least we should expect.

I do get your point, but you really do seem to be making something out of this that isn't required IMO.

It does, but consider that it costs several thousand a day to keep someone in intensive care...

You're quibbling over small admin errors in a scheme involving millions of people. I have criticised the NHS's admin loads of times, but given the scale of the programme they're undertaking at the moment I'm prepared to cut them some slack.

Yep, from what I read, the body remembers way better after two triggers for something, and its not overly fussy on how it gets triggered. There is evidence, apparently, it is actually better to get it from multiple sources/types as it can widen the scope of the reaction of the immune system.

fuck knows if that is right or not, but it sort of makes sense to me.

You pay £500 or £1,000 a year for car insurance. Some road accident victims get £100,000 or more. So what? That's what insurance is for.

I'm "quibbling" over the "small admin errors" that I know about. Keeping accurate records is part of the job, not an afterthought.

Perhaps you should read about the advantages and disadvantages of mixing (non-Covid) vaccine jabs before saying something like this. We will soon find out whether it is or is not also advantageous with Covid-19 vaccinations - my betting is that it will be advantageous.

Some miserable bastard pensioners on here.

The world spends a year trying it's very best to "keep you safe". The world spends billions doing so. The world cracks out dozens of vaccines in record breaking time. Pensioners get theirs first because, you know it's "the right thing" to do the most vulnerable first.

And you look up from your werthers and go "but they got my day of birth all wrong". ;)

That would only have happened if Saga was sufficiency mentally degraded that he couldn't remember having the jab in the first place.

So... how's he doing?

In my mind he's the one turning whats pretty much a non problem into a dig against the NHS.
I'm pretty sure that in every system theres bits of errant data and its better to check it than not.
To me it shows the people within the system are checking things and if one has missed out a cross in a box someone else makes sure that the person has recieved the treatment they need.

Or the way we sometimes do it with materials, better to be looking at it than looking for it.

Other peoples mileage may vary.

Surely you can provide a more convincing back-pedal than that?

Yes, because I literally think that 'they' decided to try mixing vaccines on the basis of 'what's the worst that could happen?' and it's not based on science of 'owt. :D

Are you sure you're not a google bot? 'cause I'm not sure :D

For clarity, I'm not "supporting the NHS" (why would I?, I can't access any of their services) as that's your own particular drum to beat the life out of.
I was just amused that, as the primary demographic that all this covid malarkey has sought to protect, you could be quite so unashamedly miserable about it. ;)

To be fair, I don't think he's miserable about the NHS or Covid specifically.
