Re: New Hayabusa
I'm inclined to agree but possibly thinking from a non flying perspective and a super barge for a tour with a sport twist. Maybe.

Re: New Hayabusa
Suzuki played a blinder with the name. Did you know that a Hsyabusa was a fictuitional Japanese bird of prey that ate Blackbirds ?

Re: New Hayabusa
I reckon the Busa was a good earner for Suzuki, even the mid life facelift was essentially just new plastics.
Sell the same bike for 20 years, it deffo recouped it's development costs.
I bet the new one is a minor update to the last model... they'll add a few cc's to make up for the losses of all the emissions gubbins. Give it a slightly sharper profile, fancy lights and the forks from the GSXR1000, bosh, brand new bike for not a lot of R&D spends. They'll not care it's not a massive seller.
Saying that, just because we don't buy many of them doesn't mean the Septics won't.

Lots of things in Japan are called Hayabusa. This one is nearly as ugly as the bike, but alot faster.

To me they always looked like a GSXR that was made of wax and has started to melt. Hideous droopy looking thing.

Re: New Hayabusa
Oh but Suzuki and the Busa owners did tend to make a big thing of the name!! (As a Blackbird owner I was told that a few times!! )
It never had the 'easy' styling of the BB (IMO - but I was in love with the BB), but the second one was so Fugly I did kinda fall in love with it
Back then the Busa 'seemed' bigger and more unwieldy but I never got to ride one. The write up suggests the new version will be slimmer and lighter even whilst having a bigger engine, so I'd guess that there will be an appeal.
The main appeal for me on the BB was the mile munching. It helped that it was possible to chuck it round corners like a sports bike but it was just so damned comfy (for me) for hours of riding. I do kinda miss it but doubt that I'd be able to get it round the hairpins up here (for a couple more years anyway!) - might be nice to have one in the valley for when I want to visit friends; nearest is 2 hours but most of the people I know here outside the region are about 6-9 hours away
That looks about as easy to get around a hairpin as the old Suzuki Busa!! LOLMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 9:01 amLots of things in Japan are called Hayabusa. This one is nearly as ugly as the bike, but alot faster.
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!

Re: New Hayabusa
Around the time I had my K3 GSXR1000,I had a run on a Busa. Hands down I much preferred my own bike. The Busa has a sportsbike riding position, dropped bars and high pegs, but totally lacks the pleasurable agility of a sportsbike. If it was a more comfortable bike I could see the point, but it was the worst of both worlds. I quite liked the visuals, even though it divides opinion.
It was all about the big numbers and we all know you can be picking up Bubba's soap bar if you get nollered doing that even once.

That's what I like about the NC700X, it even says in the owners handbook, Guaranteed prison free!
