What have you done today thread?

It had been snowing for more than 24 hours here till about an hour or so ago when we had rain

So I did some DIY - had to leave loads of stuff on the floor until tomorrow as need to get a shelf cut

Sorted some life admin and some business admin

Lots of kitchen sorting (due to the mess drilling holes makes) and I thought, I have 'too many' knives (can you actually have too many knives??) and so thought I'd have a sort out. I can get rid of one!! LOL

(I have 3 chefs knives, one chopper shaped, three little sharp knives, two serrated cheese knives, a bread knife and a filleting knife! - the one I'm going to try and find a home for is a heavy Chef's knife, too heavy for me)

Put some pork in a Char Sui marinade

Then I made Prawn Toast. Not sure why but I've been wanting to make it for ages. End result, it's nice but a bit greasy. Probably need to change how I cook it - the recipe says fry in an inch or more of oil in a pan - I think I'll put MUCH less oil in next time!! But apart from the 'too greasy' bit it was rather nice

Now going to sit and finish reading the first half of a book a friend has written. I read the first chapter this morning, I'm hooked!! Seriously hope she can get it published!!

Had an NHS hearing test and had it confirmed I might find a pair of hearing aids useful. Because of my hero worker status I qualify for in ear aids too.

The hours are crap but some of the minutes are OK.

Now going to sit and finish reading the first half of a book a friend has written. I read the first chapter this morning, I'm hooked!! Seriously hope she can get it published!!

Well damn!!! I've just emailed her to ask for the other half of the book!!! It's sci fi aimed (probably) at young to mid teenager. But I really enjoyed the first half!!!!

Went to a US version of Halfords & purchased new wiper blades for the Accord, just the rubber refill isn't available so I ended up getting stung for $52 instead of mebbe $10 for refills

Had a day off after 2 days of re deployment ...bit weary after doing two 13 hour days .
Went to LIDL with a rather low in mood son ( lockdown isn't doing children any good surprisingly) and bought a soldering iron as he's started fiddling around with old IPODS etc .
Long day am - Saturday Tabun fit battery to 900 .

I found when I put less oil in, the bread soaked up even more oil, I tend to do small batches in the frying pan, drain it on kitchen paper whilst cooking the next batch (typically I cook for a minimum of four who can’t get enough of it) then transfer to a another kitchen paper lined tray and pop it in the oven to keep warm while I finish off the rest of the meal.

Google ‘not prawn toast’ as a cheaper, just as tasty alternative.

woke up, feeling slight rough, I had a Belgium beer last night that was 9.9% and then a gin and tonic, felt slightly battered, was in bed by 21.30 (ive not had a proper drink for months)

Dropped my In-Laws shopping off and rescued this DeWakt 18v drill wiki SDS Chuck from the bin! My f-I-l said he dropped it and cracked the charger a while back and the other day he went to use it and it hadn’t charged, so he’s bought himself a new drill with 2 batteries and it’s a lot lighter etc blah. That translates to he fancied a new drill and justified it to the m-I-l by saying this one is broken, which it isn’t at all.

Got the bus down to a lower bit of the resort to get a friend to show me how to wax skis! Bit of a walk along a track that has deep but slushy snow - apparently it rained all afternoon yesterday down there. I'm only about 100m further up but at least we only had about 1.5 hours of rain!! LOL

I've now decided that waxing skis is something I need to learn! Not much space (I seem to have long skis - for my apartment anyway! 167cm) here but I'm thinking it's possible And then I can do it more regularly without having to carry them somewhere else. ALso, turns out that they need doing more often than piste skis as they are touring skis and, I didn't know this, the skins will pull off some wax each time!! Need to get learning!! Will probably be good for my arm muscles too!!

Didn't take the wood to be cut as I couldn't carry that and the skis. So I suspect I'll be having a go at that tomorrow

Oh, while getting the skis waxed, one of the girls there gave me some Brew Dog beer to try later!! LOL They have crates of the stuff going out of date, so are trying to persuade us all to buy some! LOL

Planted some large garlic bulbs. I’ve had them in the kitchen since last August and was meaning to plant them in November but it was too cold for gardening. Saw a few green shoots appear so I thought I’d best get on with it.

Fingers crossed I’ll get a decent yield - slugs and squirrels aside.

Well, I fkd up and don't have a French lesson tonight. Probably a good thing as the physio made me work in the gym this afternoon. Instead of 15 mins of 'normal' exercises after the physio session, I did 15 mins first then he made me do a load of new exercises for 25 mins

Kinda nice that I can just chill now!! LOL LOL

Today I rode into London to St Thomas's for my Pfizer jab! Now I cannot play Wally anymore with the tracker installed in me. No discounts on viagra either....

Get home, wife tells me she has received a text from school that one of the snots in her bubble has symptoms as does snotlings father... so she is now locked in the lounge with the TV and duvet. Not much else we can do at the moment. I'll slide a tray of food in three times a day. There is a downstairs loo she can have exclusive use of. 10 days of isolation for her.
