I've seen tyre fitters use them at race meetings to put grooves in tyres in cold conditions to get tyre to warm up faster.

It survived. I've still got the bike 4 years later and it still scrubs up pretty well,
This is the first winter it hasn't had big miles. Its got 54k miles on it now. Certainly can't complain about fit and finish on these. Its just on 10 yrs old now..
