Boris is a fuck knuckle - I never voted for him, so I have no bias towards him. He has, in this one instance, rolled the dice and scored a double 6. The EU could have done the same, they didn’t, and now they reap what they sowed.Docca wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:21 pmNo, you’re right. Far better to have a corrupt government, offering contracts worth billions of pounds to colleagues and friends, bypassing any procurement process and wasting so much money /delaying so many processes that we are in the state we are.
The EU on the other hand will have shown itself up for what many of us have always known. An overly bureaucratic unaccountable bumblefuck of politcal has-beens, whose home electorate have already had enough of. An organisation which resorts to bullying and underhand tactics to get its own way. You can hear the nails being driven into the EU coffin as we speak. If ever their was an advert for further break up of the EU, this is it.
If Boris Johnson was Italian or French of god forbid it, German, you’d be having an absolute field day.
We’d rather not have those difficult conversations though- much easier to say ‘they’re not perfect’ or some pithy nonsense like that.
Let’s not tackle underfunding- let’s go for the user facing experience and blame the NHS...as one particular example that suits your own bias. We built hospitals, we didn’t can’t staff them. We refuse to feed the children of the most at need. We don’t care about the livelihoods of our workers, for example our trawlermen, because we took back our borders. Etc.

In other words, the EU believes that Astrazeneca may be lying to it and is covertly diverting vaccines, which rightfully belong to the EU, from the Belgian factory to the UK. Wow.Telegraph wrote: Raid on AstraZeneca site
It comes after AstraZeneca’s vaccine production site in Belgium was raided on Wednesday at the request of the European Commission.
Belgian officials from the country’s medicines regulator inspected the factory on Wednesday afternoon after the pharmaceutical giant blamed production problems at the plant for a shortfall in vaccine supplies to the bloc.
The Belgian Health Minister said that the raid was carried out on behalf of the commission. It was aimed at proving whether or not AstraZeneca’s explanation for the failure in supply was genuine

Re: Astrazeneca/Oxford vaccine approved
I do wonder how long the Pfizer vaccine can stay at -70degC if held up at a (air?)port?
Re: Astrazeneca/Oxford vaccine approved
I posted that video link because there's some good info in it. You can say the EU inspected it, visited or popped in for a fucking cup of tea for all I care, the fact is they are muscling in on a vaccine producer in order to secure a supply of vaccine for themselves and bollocks to the fine print. We don't need no stinking contract, we are the EU. You will obey.
If you follow the information within the video you will easily be able to find links to the documents which suggest the EU are actually going after the UK produced vaccines in the UK!
Clearly this is a clusterfuck and no good can come out of it. I don't blame the EU for wanting to seize control of vaccine production either, it is the natural thing to do to protect your own interest. But it's pretty obvious who is at fault and who is throwing their weight around to try and fix a problem of their own making.

Re: Astrazeneca/Oxford vaccine approved
Seems to me that the covert agenda is to try to find evidence that Astrazeneca is in material breach of contract and thus be able to attempt to force it to divert vaccines from non-EU factories to the EU.Mussels wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:48 pmThat will be interesting but high stakes, the EU will look really bad if they are wrong.irie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:26 pmIn other words, the EU believes that Astrazeneca may be lying to it and is covertly diverting vaccines, which rightfully belong to the EU, from the Belgian factory to the UK. I don't need to say the EU inspected it, the Telegraph article that the video is based on says it was an inspection in the text, once you get past the silly 'raid' headline, which you also chose to use.DEADPOOL wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:38 pmI posted that video link because there's some good info in it. If az have a product shortage and the eu contract price was lower because of quantities, they'll look pretty bad if they've prioritised the order with the higher unit price.
If the German concern about use on the older cohort transpires to be well founded, the UK early approval and rollout will be a hollow victory
If that happens, indemnifying the manufacturer may turn out to have been the costlier option.

Indeed. If it doesn’t and the EUs contract isn’t water tight, the hollow victory (banning Pfizer exports) ma well turn out to belong to the EUslowsider wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 7:04 pmEarly days. sight of the contract may shed more light.Wreckless Rat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:24 pm Boris is a fuck knuckle - I never voted for him, so I have no bias towards him. The UK from what I can make out, isn’t as reliant on the Pfizer vaccine as the EU is on the AZ one. If AZ can keep banging out 2m a week in the UK - zee Germans aren’t about to send in the storm troopers.
Imho - vaccine nationalism was always going to be a thing, and the very reason there was development of various vaccines all over the the world.

I want a 2021 XSR900 but I haven't pre ordered cos I procrastinate.
Weeksy wants one so is in like flynn.
Deciding that no I really do need an XSR900 too I stick a pre order in 3 months later.
Damn, Yamaha announce they now have a shortfall in production and I'll have to wait a bit for my bike and pre orders ahead of me will be fulfilled first.
How's that fair? Who cares Weeksy got in 3 months before me, why can't I have my XSR at the same time? You know maybe he could have the front wheel and I'll have the back wheel
I want a PS5 but didn't pre order back in Oct...do I have a PS5 now?

Would you like to also explain to me, why the one thing he has got right has to be handed away because one or two members of the EU got some other bits right...well not right, but better.

Yes. Yes I did though tbh I don't have much choice about the provocative title, that's more to do with feeding the YouTube algorithm.Noggin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 7:59 pm

I am happy to call it a "raid" because I am unhappy with the way the EU is steamrollering its will after mucking up their own order. Therefore I have a definite bias against the EU and choose my language to reflect that displeasure. I am not an unbiased reporter nor is that in my job description.
I like that chap in the video but that does not mean I agree with everything he says though he does choose to investigate topics of interest to me without pandering to the woke culture left wing bollocks we are bombarded with by the mainstream/big tech. I still only use such media to form an opinion of my own after further research (Google) or perhaps less usefully, discussing it here*.
*(That's not true in this case, there have been some very interesting discussions in this thread so far)
