However, if I were in your shoes it would be a V4 Tuono over a Brutale, every single day of the week.

What a bout a Honda SP2 (or even an SP1), buy at the right price and you'll never lose any money on it, in fact you'll probably make on it if you keep it a few years.

I had a Ducati 996 and simultaneously loved and hated it.

Loved it: It's a Ducati 996!
Hated it: Terrible riding position, short tank range, harsh suspension, did I say terrible riding position?

At least a Honda won't smash it's own valve train.

In terms of riding position, the CBR isn't far off the limit of how sporty I'd want to go. I just don't 'fit' sportsbikes really.

The thought has occurred.

My thinking on BMs is that I've never owned one, so I'd like to try the full experience with a funny front end too. I know the R NineT doesn't fit that though.

K1200 is bloody fast, but the front end is rather odd, bit of an acquired taste. Not the most reliable or well finished bike I've ever owned.

K1300 is a K12 with the problems sorted and proper indicator switches.

If loved the pig ugly K1200R even since it came out I've heard lots of people say the K13 is the bike the 12 should have been too.

What is the riding position like on the R? Is it a proper wide grip sit up straight job?

My one came with a top yoke conversion so it's got superbike bars on it. Someone told me the normal bars are like the old R100RS.

I'll admit I fell for my R Sport at first sight. It's bloody gorgeous.

Have you seen the current gen CB1000R in the flesh, they're much much nicer than pictures suggest?

I saw a red/white/blue one with gold wheels outside a shop yesterday....you're right, its way nicer than the pics suggest in the flesh. I thought it was something exotic and European at first glance.

Never really thought about them before but they do seem like a lot of bike for not much cash.

I don't think they do the current one in those colours, unless it was a custom job. The previous one came in red/white/blue with gold wheels tho', but doesn't have halt the little details of the current gen.
